The dust has settled and only four teams remain. Call of Duty Championship 2020 commenced last week. The competition picks back up this Saturday with four teams fighting for $1,500,000. It is Dallas Empire vs. Atlanta FaZe in the winners final and the Chicago Huntsmen vs. London Royal Ravens in the losers semifinal. Chicago were the clutch kings this past week. All three series went to a map five. The Huntsmen are out for blood and are hoping to carry their significant momentum into this weekend against London.
Championship Weekend Preview
London Royal Ravens (12-14)
The London Royal Ravens have arrived at Championship Weekend despite the odds. London had an extremely volatile season. From going 0-2 to making the finals, their play varied tournament to tournament. This past weekend was arguably the Royal Ravens’ best weekend yet. They came out of the gates firing and handled adversity remarkably well. London clutched up when it mattered most and took care of business. They now find themselves in the top four and guarantee themselves $450,000 in prize money.
The Royal Ravens have yet to beat Chicago this season. However, Huntsmen fans should be on edge. This is a very scary looking London team. The Royal Ravens are no stranger to competing with the top teams. Saturday will be no different. The key for the Huntsmen will be grabbing the opening Hardpoint. The Huntsmen are a better Search and Destroy team than the Royal Ravens. Where Chicago will have the most trouble is the respawns. If Chicago rotate early and make the right plays they will start up 1-0. Given their Search and Destroy momentum, this will more than likely be a 2-0 lead for Chicago.
Next Round Matchup
The Huntsmen will play the loser of the FaZe vs. Empire match. Sparks are guaranteed to fly in either match. On the side of Atlanta, the two teams have only played twice. This match will certainly be full of the best Call of Duty in the world. Additionally, if there is bad blood in the water for the Huntsmen and Empire. Chicago won the first few matches, but the last time these two met Dallas blew the Huntsmen out of the water. No matter how things unfold, fans are in for an amazing weekend of Call of Duty
Player to Watch: Scump
Scump is in peak form. He has not looked this good all season. Scump had the second-highest K/D ratio of the tournament heading into the OGLA match. Even after this match, Scump had the 10th highest K/D of the tournament. Scump has been carrying the Huntsmen through the mud on certain maps. Without him performing at his peak, Chicago likely do not make it to Championship Weekend. It will be imperative for Scump to be at the top of his game if the Huntsmen are going to take the crown.
Prediction: Chicago win 3-2
This match will be gritty and come down to the wire. Both teams know this could be the last match all season. Chicago is the better team on paper and will do the smaller things better and move to the losers final.
