There has been speculation over the past couple of days within the Call of Duty community and Call of Duty League (CDL) in relation to the possibility of the whole fan situation. But as of now, it is all the more real. In other words, fans are coming back to CDL LAN events.
Over the past years within the Call of Duty League, there have been no in-person Land Area Network(LAN) events. However, this recent last LAN event, which was a major, created a lot of possibilities as to what might happen in the upcoming future for the league.
It has been announced Thursday, July 6, by the Call of Duty League that the next Stage major in Arlington, Texas will be with fans in the venue to view the matches. This is the case only because of the COVID-19 protocols/procedures within the state of Texas loosening.
COVID-19 Protocols for Texas
This is all due to the recent announcements made in March for the state of Texas in regards to COVID-19 protocols. This being the executive order stating the businesses and regular activities/events can resume as long as there are six feet procedures and also mask coverings as well.
All teams will benefit, however, one team, in particular, will benefit the most. That team being the Dallas Empire. This is mainly because the event will be in Texas and they are the only team that is based in Texas. They could have a huge home-field advantage as many of the fans will most likely be really Empire supporters.
The Possible Effect of the Fans
This announcement was made just after the stage 4 major LAN event which had no fans. Many people and pros within the Call of Duty community have been speculating ever since then on when fans will finally be allowed to attend. Well now, it is actually happening and pros and fans alike are excited about it.
For teams like Optic Chicago and Los Angeles Thieves, this could be the push they needed. They are two of the most popular teams in the Call of Duty League that are currently struggling in the standings. Along with Atlanta FaZe and the New York Subliners as well, this could be great for all the top teams.
There have been many memorable events on LAN where the fans are loud and crazy, only amplifying the atmosphere. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, that was never possible, which to the Call of Duty community, is extremely unfortunate.
Now that there are fans, it could add a whole other component to the Call of Duty community. It could add to the pressure of the pros that are rookies within the league. However, for the veterans, it could be the boost they need to play at the best of their abilities.
One thing is certain, there are many things that will be put on display by all of the teams. From the Los Angeles Thieves and their LAN-based team to Atlanta FaZe and their young gun death squad. All will be the rage at the major LAN event for the next stage in the Call of Duty League.
