Match one | New York Subliners vs. Minnesota Røkkr
Starting off the bracket, the Subliners battled against the Røkkr, in what was considered an easy match. However, shocking everybody in the crowd, Røkkr took the first and second rounds, putting pressure on the Subliners.
The Subliners did come out with a victory over the Røkkr, with a 3-2 record, but it doesn’t change how well Minnesota prepared when going up against the number one seed coming into the champs.
Many fans will keep a close eye on the team in the elimination round, against Boston Breach, wondering if they can keep up that grind the same way they did against New York.
The New York Subliners advance to the winners round two, with a match against Texas OpTic.
Match two | Atlanta FaZe vs. Seattle Surge
Starting off the second round with fans still impressed with the first match, it was no surprise when Atlanta started off with the first win in the first two matches. Seattle put up a good fight in the third round, taking the win and putting a point on the board, but Atlanta came back in game four, booting the Seattle Surge to the elimination round.
Atlanta came out on top with the victory with a record of 3-1, advancing to the winners round two against Toronto Ultra.
Match three | Texas OpTic vs. Boston Breach
With a similar record of 3-1, Texas OpTic took the win against Boston Breach.
OpTic had domination over both rounds of Hardpoint, leaving little to no room for Breach to ever get that momentum they needed to put up a fight. OpTic’s rotation, along with their SMG was a force to be reckoned with, that should have New York a little worried.
It’s not looking good for Boston Breach if they can’t find that middle ground when they go up against Minnesota Røkkr. If they have any chance of beating them, they’re going to have to clean up their plans and aim, or else there’s not much hope for them in the next elimination round.
Texas OpTic advances to the winners round two against the New York Subliners.
Match four | Toronto Ultra vs. LA Thieves
The record was a 3-2 match with Toronto Ultra winning against the LA Thieves, but it wasn’t easy and totally worth the wait.
The first round started off with Hardpoint, LA put up a good fight, but couldn’t seem to take the match against Toronto, giving Ultra the lead with the first point. This defeat didn’t sit well with LA, and shifted their gears into play, giving them the drive to dominate the next two rounds, with a point lead on Toronto.
However, Toronto quickly figured out what was missing and stepped up to play. Repeating their rotation in Hardpoint again, Ultra ties the match with one to go. Previously in the second round, LA won the Search & Destroy with a record of 6-1, but Toronto redeemed themselves with a comeback in the second round with a score of 66-2.
