It is 13 weeks into the fantasy football season and the waiver wire will be a hotbed of activity during the next few weeks leading into the championship week(s). Any good champion will need to go to the waiver wire to acquire players to make their team even better. Here are the Fantasy Football: players to add for week 14. (All stats and rankings are for standard, non-decimal scoring)
1. Dante Pettis, WR, San Francisco 49ers
The rookie wide receiver out of Washington has really come on in the last two weeks. Pettis has 37 points and seems to be a solid target on this offense not named George Kittle or Matt Breida. He only has a total of nine catches, so he is reliant on big plays to be productive, but Kyle Shanahan should be able to figure out how to use him.
Pettis will likely become a bigger part of the offense in the next few weeks, as he making plays. He is available in almost every ESPN league.
2. Rashaad Penny, RB, Seattle Seahawks
It is hard to trust Seattle to play the best running back on their roster. Penny rushed for 65 yards on seven carries against 49ers. He has earned the right for more touches, but for some reason, he has failed to receive over 10 carries since his solid game against the Rams a few weeks ago.
As a rookie, Penny should be more involved as the season comes to a close. Pick him up and see what he does before starting him. He is available in just under 80% of ESPN leagues.
3. Darren Sproles, RB, Philadelphia Eagles
Darren Sproles finally returned on Monday Night against the Redskins. Early in the game, he proved that he is the most explosive running back on the roster by registering a touchdowns run. As he gets back into a groove, he is worth picking up and stashing on the bench to see if he can emerge as a valuable fantasy asset.
The Eagles’ offense has focused on the pass with the running game not able to produce. Sproles should see some action as a pass-catcher as well as a runner while the Eagles make a playoff push. Josh Adams will still get most of the work, but Sproles can have an impact. He is available in almost all ESPN leagues.
4. Jeff Wilson, RB, San Francisco 49ers
Wilson came out of nowhere to burst onto the scene for the 49ers against the Seahawks. He had 61 rushing yards and also logged over 50 receiving yards. Wilson is one of many running backs that the 49ers use, but stepped up at least for this week, warranting fantasy consideration.
Matt Breida was limited with an injury and is still the lead back. Wilson will get a lot of work if Breida is out again. He is available in ever ESPN league.
5. Justin Jackson, RB, Los Angeles Chargers
While Austin Ekeler was the running back to pick up last week, Jackson had a good game in week 13 to make a name for himself. On eight carries, Jackson rushed for 63 yards and a touchdown. Like Ekeler, he has the ability to catch passes out of the backfield.
Jackson is a short-term pickup while the Chargers wait for Melvin Gordon to come back from injury. He is owned in just 12% of ESPN leagues.
6. Jaylen Samuels, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers
Samuels is only worth picking up if James Conner’s injury limits him. It didn’t look that bad, but Samuel played well in Conner’s absence at the end of the game against the Chargers. He caught a pass and made it into the end zone.
The Steelers won’t lose much with Samuels in the lineup in terms of the passing game, as he actually played a bit of receiver and tight end in college at NC State. He is available in most ESPN leagues.
