Each week teams will be fighting for position in an effort to make the College Football Playoff. The teams will be ranked each week, but what matters most is who they have played and beaten already on the field. Preseason rankings will not be taken into consideration here. Here is College Football Playoff Bracketology October 31.
CFP Four
1. Georgia Bulldogs (8-0)
Georgia had another dominating performance and beat Florida 34-7. The Bulldogs have a championship-level defense and will be the number one team until they lose.
This week: vs. Missouri Tigers (4-4)
2. Michigan State Spartans (8-0)
The Spartans got a top-10 win over their in-state rival Michigan on Saturday. It was one of the more impressive wins of the college football season. Their win against Miami also looks better now that the Hurricanes have rebounded from a rough start.
This week: at Purdue Boilermakers (5-3)
3. Cincinnati Bearcats (8-0)
Cincinnati isn’t winning many eye tests at the moment, but their big win on the road over Notre Dame keeps on looking better, as the Fighting Irish keep winning. This week, they defeated Tulane by 19 points. If the CFP Committee looks at common opponents, the Bearcats won by 19 points against Tulane on the road, Oklahoma won by five at home, which might help their case when things are all said and done.Their schedule the rest of the way isn’t great, so Cincinnati might need some help to make the CFP.
This week: vs. Tulsa Golden Hurricane (3-5)
4. Oklahoma Sooners (9-0)
In week 9, Oklahoma blew out Texas Tech. They extended their record to 8-0 with the win and even though they have looked sloppy in the past, the Sooners look like they have improved. The Sooners will need to keep on improving, as they have a few tougher Big 12 games coming up.
This week: BYE
First Four Out
5. Ohio State Buckeyes (7-1)
Ohio State played sloppy, but they still notched a win against a ranked Penn State team. It was the best win of their season, but they have plenty of tougher games upcoming. The Buckeyes likely control their own destiny to get in the playoffs.
This week: at Nebraska Cornhuskers (3-6)
6. Alabama Crimson Tide (7-1)
The Crimson Tide were off this week. In the meantime, their win to Ole Miss looks worse after the Rebels lost to Auburn. Alabama’s win over Florida also looks a little worse as the Gators dropped to .500. Alabama still controls their own destiny if they win out, even with a loss to Texas A&M.
This week:Â vs. LSU Tigers (4-4)
7. Oregon Ducks (7-1)
A win over Colorado won’t do much for the Ducks. They are an interesting case right now, as they beat Ohio State on the road, but they also lost to Stanford, who sits at 3-5. The Ducks have to win out to have any shot at the CFP, but they have an easier road than many of the other power five teams on this list.
This week: at Washington Huskies (4-4)
8. Wake Forest Demon Deacons (8-0)
Wake Forest is 8-0 for the first time in school history after defeating Duke 45-7. Their undefeated record is the best thing they have going for them at the moment, as they lack quality wins. The schedule gets tougher over the next four weeks and Wake Forest can prove they are legit with wins in those games.
This week: at UNC Tar Heels (4-4)
Next Four Out
9. Michigan Wolverines (7-1)
It was a tough loss to Michigan State for the Wolverines. The good news is that it’s just the first loss of the season for Michigan. But the bad news is that the Wolverines still don’t have a big win under their belts this season.
This week: vs. Indiana Hoosiers (2-6)
10. Notre Dame Fighting Irish (7-1)
A win over North Carolina this weekend vaults the Fighting Irish into the top 10 after some other teams lost. Their only loss on the season is to Cincinnati, who ranks in the top four. The schedule for the Fighting Irish has been easier, but other teams ahead of the Fighting Irish keep losing.
This week: vs. Navy Midshipmen (2-6)
11. Oklahoma State Cowboys (7-1)
Before dropping a game to Iowa State, the Cowboys had a streak of wins over ranked teams, including Baylor, Texas and Kansas State. This week, they defeated Kansas, which won’t help their case too much, but they did play the Jayhawks better than Oklahoma did.
This week: at West Virginia Mountaineers (4-4)
12. Texas A&M Aggies (6-2)
The Aggies were off in week 9, but with other teams losing, they move into the top 12. Their win over Alabama is still one of the best of the college football season. On the other hand, they have two losses on the year. Texas A&M is still in play for a New Year’s Six Bowl Game.
This week: vs. Auburn Tigers (6-2)

Hey joe. Alabama lost to A&M. Fact check before you write an article. P.S. this was common knowledge…
