Marshall underwent investigation by the school for several incidents of misconduct. He was being investigated for allegedly physically contacting players and mistreating players and staff at Wichita State.
“This was a difficult decision, but one I feel necessary for my family, the university, and, most importantly the student-athletes,” Marshall stated.
With Marshall resigning, Wichita State will pay a contract settlement of $7.75 million to be paid over the next six years.
Assistant coach Isaac Brown will serve as interim coach.
Marshall coached at Wichita State for 13 seasons and posted a 331-121 record with the school. He made seven NCAA Tournaments, which was highlighted by a Final Four appearance in 2013.
