Manchester City looks positively at being in first place at the end of English Premier League.
Liverpool’s game against Newcastle on Saturday, May 3, gave them three more points in EPL to place them with 94 points. Man City won today’s game against Leicester City 1-1 placing them in first with 95 points.
Mohamed Salah got a head injury during Saturday’s game for Liverpool. There is not a positive account if he will be playing in the Champion Leagues’ second leg match against Barcelona FC. It’s not sure if he will be able to play in the Sunday, May 12 game against the Wolves either. If Liverpool wins against Wolverhampton they will end the season with 97 points.
Liverpool is already down a striker as Roberto Firmino is out on a muscle injury.
“He will not be ready for Tuesday and the rest [of the season] we will see,” said Klopp about Firmino’s injury.
With two strikers out, there is a possibility that they will not win against the Wolves. The last five games played against each other Liverpool won only three times. If they lose, Man City’s lead will secure their position for first without competition.
Manchester City still has another game against seventeenth place Brighton on Sunday, May 12 at 10 a.m. EST. If Man City wins they will end the league with 98 points placing them on top of Liverpool.
Man City has good odds of winning against Brighton since they have won four out of the last five games played against them.
Liverpool and Man City have secured their spot for first and second place as Chelsea is in third place with only 71 points.
Cardiff, Fulham and Huddersfield will be relegated at the end of the season.
