In an unexpected move Friday afternoon the Washington Justice have acquired San Franciso Shock support player Nikola “Sleepy” Andrews. The news was announced first by the San Francisco Shock’s twitter account then confirmed by the Washington Justice’s twitter shortly after. At the time of writing there are no details readily available regarding compensation for the Shock.
Sleepy had been a member of the Shock since their roster was announced in 2017. He played with San Francisco though out season one as the Shock finished 17-23. He was elected to the Overwatch League Pacific All Star team for the inaugural season.
In Season 2 Sleepy saw his playing time significantly reduced with the addition of Park “Viol2t” Min-ki in October of 2018. After Viol2t returned from his 2 game suspension during Stage 1 for boosting, Sleepy was relegated to being primarily a bench player.
The trade creates a potentially dominate support line for the Justice. The combination of Hong “ArK” Yeonjoon who was recently acquired via trade with New York Excelsior and Sleepy will bring veteran leadership and talent that the Justice lacked at times during Stage 1. Though Washington is facing off against the Los Angeles Valiant at 10:30 Eastern, there has been no word on if Sleepy will be playing.
