One month ago, Ladd returned after being out since November 13 with a lower-body injury. He missed training camp due to back issues. Ladd has four years left of his seven-year, $38.5 million contract. He is due to make $5.5 million in 2019-2020 season. His age and salary are areas of concern for the Islanders front office. His contract could be minimized if Ladd cleared waivers and played for AHL Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
The Islanders are expected to call up Michael Dal Colle for tonight’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets. The 22-year-old rookie scored two goals, three assists in 23 games this season. Islanders fans enjoyed watching the youngster when given the chance. Tonight’s Islanders vs Blue Jackets game starts at 7 p.m. ET (TVAS, FS-O, MSG+, NHL.TV)
