One of the biggest strategies in fantasy football is streaming defenses. Each week owners will look at matchups and make waiver wire acquisitions to find their starting defense. Here are fantasy football defenses to stream week 9. (Note: All defenses mentioned are owned in less than 50 percent of ESPN leagues. Stats from before Monday Night Football)
1. New Orleans Saints
New Orleans has a solid fantasy defense this season, ranking 18th at 4.8 points per game. They have one double-digit scoring game, which was in week 1 against the Carolina Panthers. Their one negative-scoring game this year was against the Kansas City Chiefs.
The week 9 matchup for the Saints is with the Panthers. They scored 16 fantasy points against them in week 1. Carolina scores 15.5 points per game, which ranks near the bottom of the league. New Orleans should be able to have a good game regardless of who the Panthers put out at quarterback. The Saints are rostered in 38.5 percent of ESPN leagues.
2. Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals have not had a great defense for fantasy, ranking 27th at 3.4 points per game. They have two double-digit scoring games this season, which were against the Chiefs and Browns. Their three negative-scoring outings, which were against the Commanders, Ravens and Eagles.
In week 9, Cincinnati plays the Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders are averaging just 18 points per game, which ranks near the bottom of the league. Las Vegas has thrown 10 interceptions this year between their quarterbacks, so the Bengals can limit points and maybe force some turnovers to bolster their score. They are rostered in 38.8 percent of ESPN leagues.
3. Philadelphia Eagles
Philadelphia has been an average fantasy defense this season, ranking 17th at 5.9 points per game. They have one double-digit scoring game, which was against the Giants. So far this season, they have no negative-scoring games, but do have two games in which they scored 0.
In week 9, the Eagles play the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars are scoring 21.5 points per game, but they have been inconsistent from week to week. Philadelphia’s defense has improved since the early weeks of the season and they could really slow down the Jags’ progress. Philadelphia is rostered in 40.3 percent of ESPN leagues.
4. New England Patriots
The Patriots have had a tough season on the defensive side of the ball, ranking 29th at 2.9 points per game. Their one double-digit scoring game was against Cincinnati in week 1. Their two negative-scoring games were against the Jets and Jaguars.
This week the Patriots play the Tennessee Titans. Tennessee is averaging just 17.1 points per game. Starting quarterback Will Levis has been injured the last two games, but Mason Rudolph has had trouble getting the offense going as well. If New England can stop the run, they can have a big day. They are rostered in 4.0 percent of ESPN leagues.
5. Tennessee Titans
The Tennessee Titans rank 25th as a fantasy defense at 4.1 points per game. They had one double-digit scoring game, which was against the Dolphins. Their one negative-scoring game was against the Buffalo Bills.
In week 9, the Titans play the New England Patriots. The Patriots average just 15.5 points per game this season. Drake Maye seemed to spark the offense, but he left this past week’s game with a concussion. Whether he plays or not, Tennessee should be able to limit the scoring in the game. The Titans are rostered in just 23 percent of ESPN leagues.

I dropped the Bengals after their -4 points last week. Thought they were finally going to make a turn but Lou continues to show he can only form a game plan against one team, the Chiefs. Everyone else is a toss up.
Sorry you dropped them. They had a big week!
