College football season is approaching. Before the season starts gamblers need to get their futures bets in for the year. Here are bets to place before the 2024 college football season.
Cincinnati Bearcats Under 5.5 Wins
The Bearcats had a win total of 5.5 last season and the under hit, as they won just three games. They return 11 total starters from that team. Most importantly their offensive line returns from last season. There are still plenty of holes on the roster, which includes the defensive line which have had injuries and their best player, Dontay Corleone having blood clot issues.
Cincinnati’s schedule doesn’t set up well for them to hit the over and make the bowl game. Their nonconference schedule consists of Towson, Pittsburgh and Miami (OH). The Pittsburgh game could be tough and the Bearcats lost to Miami last season. The conference schedule could be tough, as they have both Iowa State and Kansas State on the road. An improvement in wins this season could happen, but winning three more games might be too rich.
LSU Tigers Under 9.5 Wins
LSU won nine games last regular season and that was with a Heisman-trophy-winning quarterback and some premier targets on the outside. They now have Garrett Nussmeier taking over at quarterback with six offensive starters back with him. Defensively, six starters return, but that is from a unit that allowed 28 points per game.
The Tigers have a brutal schedule and given their losses, it will be tough to get to double-digit wins. Out of conference, they play USC (in Las Vegas) and UCLA. They have tough conference games against, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Alabama and Oklahoma. With the wear and tear they face week in and week out, it will be tough for LSU to withstand.
Ohio State Buckeyes Over 10.5 Wins
The Buckeyes haven’t reached their full potential the last few seasons. They won 11 regular season games last season, only losing to Michigan. The good news for Ohio State is that they have a lot of talent on the roster. The defense returns eight starters and adds Caleb Downs to a unit that allowed just 11.2 points per game. Chip Kelly is now the offensive coordinator, who will have great skill position players to work with, so the sky should be the limit.
The non-conference schedule should be easy, as they play Akron, Western Michigan and Marshall. In conference, they have tough games at Oregon and Penn State with home contests against Iowa and Michigan. While the schedule isn’t the easiest, the Buckeyes will likely be favored in every game other than the one against Oregon. If they meet expectations, they should win at least 11 games and make the CFP.
USF Bulls Over 7.5 Wins
In Alex Golesh’s first season as head coach at USF, he went 6-6. That was a year after the Bulls only won one game. There are 17 starters returning, including quarterback Byrum Brown who showed he can throw and run last season. The defense will need to improve, but it looks like bright days are coming this season for USF.
Out of conference, the Bulls have tough games against Alabama and Miami. Even if they lose both games, they have ample opportunity to hit the over. They have tough games early in the conference schedule against Tulane and Memphis, but the rest of the season should be manageable. Taking care of business gives USF at minimum eight wins, but there is a potential that they do better in Golesh’s second year.
