It is the first race weekend of the 2024 F1 season. After almost three months, Formula One is back and ready to begin its longest season ever. In a world where the clock never lies, predictions are not the easiest thing to get correct. However, it is always worth a try. What will end up happening this season? Last year’s predictions went quite awry, but there is always a new season coming. Here are some F1 predictions for the 2024 F1 season.
Four Teams Will Win A Race
Looking back on last season, it feels like a Red Bull perfect season could still be possible. It is especially tempting to predict it. But that prediction is simply not fun at all. Instead, we will see three teams win a race this year. The key there is that counts sprint races. A poor sprint shootout could leave Verstappen in a tough spot during the sprint, but he is tough to beat over a race distance. This opens the door for Ferrari, Mercedes and McLaren all to get wins, even if all of them do not win a Grand Prix.
The 2025 Red Bull Second Seat Will NOT Feature One of the Three Current In-House Options
Max Verstappen is a singular force of nature. Like prime Michael Schumacher, he destroys his teammates mercilessly for victory. That, however, is only a role meant for some. They must have thick skin and enough pace to justify the Red Bull drive.
Yuki Tsunoda feels longed for something other than Red Bull, given the upcoming split between Honda and Red Bull. Meanwhile, Daniel Ricciardo’s pace may not manifest in a way that clearly separates him from Tsunoda. Lastly, Sergio Perez must run a near-perfect season to stay in his seat. But who could replace him?
If you look across the grid, the options could be better. Rumors around an Alex Albon return are interesting, but the state of that relationship raises more questions than answers. While talented, Liam Lawson feels like something other than a driver who would earn that jump to the first team. He could be in Visa CashApp, RB, though. Carlos Sainz would be a fantastic second-driver option on the market. However, World Championship ambitions and a history with the Red Bull Driver Program will likely lead to a future with Audi. Or, in the shocker of all shockers, Red Bull could go for an absolute fan-favorite lineup with Fernando Alonso. While that is most likely a dream, it is possible. The F2 field could be better, but a dominant season from Isack Hadjar could land him somewhere. Too many factors exist to say it will be one of the three drivers.
At Least One Driver On The Grid Will Race at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona or Le Mans in 2025
Formula One will not race on the same weekend as the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the second consecutive year and the season began a month after the Rolex 24. If that holds in 2025, one of the drivers on the grid will race in one of endurance racing’s crown jewel races. Fernando Alonso is an FIA World Endurance Champion, Alex Albon was in talks to race at Daytona this year and Nico Hülkenberg won Le Mans in 2015 while racing in F1. Drivers like Lando Norris and Lance Stroll, who raced at the Rolex 24 during their junior careers, and Kevin Magnussen, who has also raced in both races, could also race. Plus, Max Verstappen is very vocal about racing at Le Mans. Ahead of Red Bull’s partnership with Ford, a one-off GT entry at Le Mans may be an exciting sweetener.
This all stems from the rise of sportscar and endurance racing in today’s motorsports culture. Manufacturers like Porsche, Cadillac, Ferrari, Toyota and others race across IMSA and WEC. In 2025, Aston Martin will join both series with their modified Aston Martin Valkyrie. That becomes an interesting question, especially on the Lance Stroll front. Time will tell, but one of the current drivers will race at one of these great races.
Visa CashApp RB Will Finish Sixth in the World Constructer’s Championship.
After winter testing, this idea went from possible to feasible. With Red Bull Racing’s sister team taking the maximum parts allowable under the regulations, the former AlphaTauri team appears primed to fight for points week in and week out. When taking into account the drivers, the odds only increase. Yuki Tsunoda took a massive step forward last season, while a revitalized and uninjured Danny Ricciardo will look to return to form. With a seat in the main team up for grabs, both drivers will want to earn that honor.
However, this is also predicated on Alpine continuing to slip back. Over the past few years, the Alpine car has gotten demonstrably worse. Despite being the Renault factory team, the team has fallen into no man’s land. They are no longer fighting for fourth place in the Constructor’s Championship. Instead, they sit in a video between the top five and the bottom four. With Williams and VCARB seemingly on the precipice of improvements, the Endstone outfit may not last much longer before Renault considers selling the team.
Red Bull WON’T win the 2024 2023 Constructors’ Championship
I bet against Red Bull last year and looked like an idiot as Verstappen won this Championship for Red Bull alone. This year, I am throwing out a slightly different prediction. With how dominant Verstappen is, combined with Adrien Newey’s engineering brilliance, this team could create a copy-paste version of last year’s results.
However, this is more of a bet on the rest of the field, surpassing Perez. Despite being in the fastest car, Sergio Perez’s descent of disappointment across the back two-thirds of 2023 was astonishing. With Ferrari, McLaren and Mercedes taking steps forward, Perez must meet that car’s potential. Unfortunately, those trying to hunt him down possess more talent at this point in their collective careers.
Max Verstappen Will Win the 2023 Drivers’ Championship
What can be said that has yet to be said? Max Verstappen is on a dominant run that mirrors the likes of Michael Schumacher, Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel. He won 19 of 22 races last year. If not for a disastrous Singapore Grand Prix, in which he finished fifth, he would have won 18 straight races. Max Verstappen & Red Bull Racing are similar to prime Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. Until someone can beat them, you can not bet against them. Max Verstappen will win dominate the 2024 F1 season.
