With the various customization options in Tekken 8. Players have let their creative side roam wild—many create famous characters from other anime and video game mediums. Characters such as Tifa from “Final Fantasy 7”, Ada Wong from “Resident Evil”, Yor Forger from “Spy x Family”, and even Mario and Luigi from “Super Mario Bros.” series.
The list goes on, however, despite the customizations, these characters can only imitate the original characters so much. This has left players wondering, who will make a guest appearance in Tekken 8?
Game Director Katsuhiro Harada has seen the hype that Tifa Lockhart has brought and he confirmed that Tifa was not going to be a surefire addition to the Tekken cast. There has only been one DLC character confirmed and it’s Eddy Gordo, from the previous installations of Tekken.
Tekken has introduced characters from different entertainment mediums before Negan from “The Walking Dead”, Noctis from “Final Fantasy 15”, Geese Howard from “Fatal Fury” and others. Below is a list of possible guest characters that could fit into the Tekken 8 scene.
Kazuma Kiryu:
A stern, battle-hardened Yakuza member hailing from the “Yakuza” series. Kiryu delivers hard-hitting blows to his enemies, using various weapons, environmental tools, and more at his disposal. Despite the lack of environmental weapons in Tekken 8, aside from arena interactions. Kiryu would use his “brawler” style to make his grand entrance in Tekken 8.
Tifa Lockhart:
A compassionate, caring, and ironically gentle companion from “Final Fantasy 7”, fans who played the remake of Final Fantasy 7, know just how free-flowing, elegant, and powerful Tifa is. The use of “materia” may make the developers ponder on how to incorporate it, but in terms of raw fighting, Tifa just screams Tekken, with beautiful movement potential, and her own combat arts and attitude, Tifa would make a sensational guest character.
Anna Williams:
An iconic character in the Tekken series and twin sister to Nina Williams. The two siblings have had their sibling rivalry since the beginning of Tekken. Using her charming personality and her knowledge of Akidio to take down her opponents. Unfortunately, she was not included in the base roster in the previous two Tekken installations, however, fans of Anna want her back. Wanting to experience Anna in the refined gameplay that Tekken 8 offers.
Armor King:
A fan favorite in the Tekken series, Armor King made his first appearence in the very first Tekken title. Make no mistake, King and Armor King are two seperate people, though they may share similar movesets. But lore-wise there is much to Armor King, though that will be for players to uncover. Having Armor King in the game again would please fans who enjoy the grappler fighting style that certain characters have, and the aesthetic design he has.
2B:
The beloved heroine from the “NiER” series. 2B is an android defending the last remnants of humanity from machine lifeforms. Armed with a multitude of weapons, but her katana, “Virtuous Contract” is her most iconic weapon. 2B could fit in due to her fast movement speed, mastery of her weapons, and nonchalant personality. She was already featured in Soul Caliber 6 as DLC, so it would not be her first time in a 3D fighting game setting.
Tekken has not done anime characters in the past, however, with Yor Forger introduced into Street Fighter 6, perhaps the developers may take some inspiration from that and introduce a medium of anime to diversify the line-up and audience the game has. Though Tekken’s unique character models may make it a tad difficult to stay true to that “2D” style of fighting.
However the developers decide to go about the roster, Tekken 8 fans are hoping that the characters announced are as cool and enjoyable as the current cast of characters are.
Note: The list mentioned is just speculation, there is no conclusive evidence that these characters may or may not make an appearance, as well as this list is purely subjective.
