What Are The Best Ship Upgrades In Starfield?
Engine
It goes without saying that having a good engine will get you far when journeying across space. With a high-quality engine not only will it increase the movement speed of the ship, but it’ll also increase velocity allowing for more maneuverability as well. Players will often find themselves up in the skies more than on the ground, so this should be priority number one on the list.
Reactors
After getting a good engine, a reactor should be next on the list. Reactors give more points that decide how many attachments/features a ship can have. The better the reactor, the more points you can have. This will allow you to add several things such as shields, lasers, etc.
Lasers/Missles
Lasers and missiles basically go hand in hand. You’ll need to go on the offensive at times and these will be very useful in space fights. In terms of which to buy first lasers should be the first priority then missiles. The reason is that lasers can tear through enemy shields allowing them to take more damage. If you only have missiles it would take longer when compared to lasers. Not only that but misses take time to recharge as well. Make sure you have both of them at some point or the majority of fights will be tough.
Cargo Hold
Having a place to put the items that you collect throughout your adventure is a necessity. With the cargo hold, you can maximize the amount of items you can store. While you can eventually get a house at one point in Starfield, having at least a few cargo holds will come in handy more often than not. Keep in mind to not overdo it as too many will weigh the ship down and affect performance. Having one or two good ones should be more than enough for a ship.
Grav Drive
Having a Grav Drive helps out when traveling through the start map so whether you need it or not is completely up to debate. It allows you to travel further than usual and saves on fuel as well. Having it handy will certainly come in use as it will not only save you time, but your patience too.
Shields
If you find yourself getting into space battles a lot then having some good shields will be the way to go. Fighting others in space may not be as easy as it looks so it doesn’t hurt to have a bit of protection. The default shields that you start with will go down easy so even a tiny upgrade will go a long way.
