Free agent quarterback Derek Carr will sign with the New Orleans Saints according to Dianna Russini of ESPN. Carr is eligible to sign before the new league year starts because he was cut by the Las Vegas Raiders.
Carr, 31, has played his entire career for the Raiders and was the starting quarterback for the team as they moved from Oakland to Las Vegas. He has passed for 35,222, 217 touchdowns and 99 interceptions on 64.6 percent completion.
At the end of the 2022 season, Carr was benched by first-year Raiders’ coach Josh McDaniels. The Raiders explored a trade before cutting Carr, enabling him to sign with the team of his choosing.
In New Orleans Carr will take over for Andy Dalton and Jameis Winston who started for the Saints last season.
