They were able to make the College Football Playoff, but lost to Ohio State in the semifinals. In 2021, Murphy registered 39 total tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss and eight sacks. The Tigers went 11-3, but lost in the Orange Bowl to conclude the season.

Myles Murphy Strengths
Murphy has the prototypical size and strength that comes with it for an NFL edge rusher. He stands at 6-foot-5 and 275 pounds, which is above average for the position. With his size comes solid arm length as well, which will be coveted by NFL teams. His strength is functional. He uses it to shed blocks and hold his spot when playing against the run.
For his size, Murphy has good athleticism. He moves well both in a straight line and laterally. Murphy can get to a decent speed, which helps him on the edge. With his mobility, Murphy also has good flexibility. He can bend around the edge and uses his athleticism to win as a pass rusher.
His motor is always running, as Murphy shows that he will keep working towards making a play. This shows up when he is trying to get pressure on the quarterback, but also on running plays, where he shows good pursuit of ball carriers. It also shows up when he is lined up outside or on the inside.
Myles Murphy Weaknesses
Murphy needs to keep on adding pass-rush moves to his game. Right now, he mainly wins because of his athleticism, strength and length. He can see more production from his pass rush if he adds more moves and countermoves to his arsenal. Murphy has strong hands and with the proper work can really add to his pass-rush moves.
While his motor is great, Murphy can finish plays better. It isn’t an effort thing, but rather a closing burst and tackling problem. Quarterbacks were able to escape his grasp and create bigger plays. He also could finish run plays better as well.
His awareness can also be improved. Murphy can set the edge better against the run, instead of chasing the ball carrier inside and letting them bounce it outside for a big game. He also can read play actions, RPOs and read options better. Murphy has made some wrong reads and can be more aggressive in stopping these types of plays.
