The Philadelphia Eagles improved to 12-1 this past Sunday after defeating the New York Giants 48-22. This is a statement win as the Eagles have beaten all of the teams in the NFC East at least once. This win also makes it clear that the Eagles are the best team in the NFL. This article will recap the Philadelphia Eagles Week 14 game against the New York Giants.
Jalen Hurts looked Sharp
The Eagles dominated every aspect of this game. Jalen Hurts was sharp and accurate throwing the ball to his receivers. Furthermore, he managed to get every single receiver involved in this game. He had 217 yards passing and two touchdowns on the day. His first touchdown pass was 41 yarder to Devonta Smith that put the Eagles up by two touchdowns early in the second quarter. His second touchdown pass was a 41-yard strike to A.J. Brown that put the Eagles up by three touchdowns at the end of the second quarter. Brown ended the day being the Eagles’ top receiver in yardage with 70 total yards.Â
Another notable player who got some action is Grant Calcaterra. He is getting more playing time with Goedert being injured. He was targeted four times in this game and totaled 24 yards. It is clear that the Eagles can pass the ball this year. This is no longer the one-dimensional team that we saw last year. The Eagles can beat opponents through the air and on the ground.
Sanders dominated on the ground
As said above, the Eagles can beat opponents through the air and on the ground. The Eagles did both in this game. Miles Sanders had a career day. He rushed for 144 yards and scored two touchdowns on the ground. His longest run of the day was a 40-yarder that went for a touchdown. He was patient getting through the line scrimmage and then turned on the Jets once he got into the open field. This game put Sanders over 1,000 yards on the season, which is a first for the Eagles’ star running back.
Boston Scott also had a good day on the ground. He had 33 yards and a touchdown. Boston Scott has dominated the Giants throughout his career. Out of the 16 touchdowns that Boston Scott has in his career; nine of those touchdowns have been against the Giants.
The defense gets the job done
The Eagles’ pass rush got Daniel Jones all day long. Philadelphia totaled seven sacks on the day. Brandon Graham had a monster game with three sacks. He has been unstoppable for the Eagles in recent weeks. Fletcher Cox, Milton Williams, and Hassan Reddick also joined the party with one sack each. The Eagles also forced one turnover. The defense recovered a Tyrod Taylor fumble.
The leading tackler in this game was Marcus Epps. He had eight total tackles with one being for a loss. Avonte Maddox was behind him with seven total tackles. Reed Blankenship, who had a great game last week totaled two tackles in this game. Overall, the defense had another great game. If they keep playing like this than this team will not see too many more losses.
