Washington Commanders cornerback William Jackson is at the center of trade talks. Jackson wants a trade due to him not feeling like he is a scheme fit for the Commanders’ defense. He is more of a man coverage corner, but plays zone coverage in Ron Rivera’s scheme.
The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Thursday.
Jackson was a first round draft pick of the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2016 NFL Draft. He played for four years with the Bengals, missing his entire draft season due to injury. In 2021, Jackson signed a four-year, $40.5 million contract with the Commanders.
In 71 games played (60 starts), Jackson has 189 total tackles, one sack and five interceptions. He also has 49 pass deflections on his career and one defensive touchdowns. In 12 games in 2021, he had 39 tackles, eight pass deflections and two interceptions (a career high).
