With Chiefs training camp underway, TGH takes a look at the recent headlines from Chiefs training camp.
Patrick Mahomes injury scare
Recently during a drill Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was stepped on by a lineman and was seen limping off of the practice field. It was a short trip to the medical tent and the star quarterback would return minutes later. Andy Reid mentioned the brief injury scare to the media saying “Somebody stepped on him, he’s gonna be ok”. Nonetheless Chiefs fans held their breath for a quick moment as seeing Mahomes limping is the last thing they want to see.
New look Frank Clark
Many people took to notice that Frank Clark looks incredibly healthy. The veteran defensive end appeared to lose a serious amount of weight. He opened up to the media saying that he stopped drinking alcohol one day after a bad stomachache. He also pointed out the amount of sugar in alcohol and how much better he has felt since he stopped drinking. Many are speculating that Clark is up for a big season as his physical health is at an all time high.
Clark also mentioned how one of his main goals is to get George Karlaftis ready to play, ““I got George who’s a first-round guy who’s got to be ready to play. So at the end of the day, part of the things I’m doing at practice is helping him understand the system faster.” Karlaftis is also seen numerous times asking Clark for advice on adjusting to the NFL level.
Orlando Brown, Jr.
The biggest drama of the Chiefs offseason is over. Orlando Brown, Jr. was threatening to hold on from training camp and regular season games in pursuit of a large contract. This has since been rectified since Kansas City franchise tagged Brown. Brown has since stated that he is in Kansas City to win Super Bowls and wants to play there for the rest of his career.
The Chiefs also had to cut undrafted rookie Chris Glaser in order to make room for Brown on the 90 man roster. Glaser is an undrafted right guard out of West Virginia. This may not be the end for Glaser in Kansas City however as the team will still have to sort out their practice squad members. The Indianapolis Colts also showed interest in the lineman prior to the Chiefs signing him. It’s a possibility that he ends up with the Colts as well.
