With many pieces of the Chiefs offense missing this year the Chiefs’ reward All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce with a $3 million raise before training camp.
New Deal
Travis Kelce signed a $57.25 million extension in 2020 to stay in Kansas City. In 2022 Kelce was only set to be paid $7.46 million which is middle of the pack for his position. Although, with this boost in money this season he is now paid as a top ten tight end. Most of his money in his contract is set to arrive in 2024 and 2025. But the $3 million given to Kelce was taken from one of those years and put into this years payment.
The #Chiefs and star TE Travis Kelce have agreed to terms on an adjusted contract to give him a raise in 2022, sources say. Money is moved from the back of the deal to properly compensate Kelce.

Kelce is debatably the best tight end in football being voted to the First-Team AP All-Pro team three times. The Star tight end has also had 1,000 receiving yards in his last six seasons with the Chiefs.
Although, with Tyreek Hill traded to Miami the Chiefs may have wanted to properly pay Kelce for his bigger role on the team this year. This season Kelce is set to be the clear number one receiving option for Patrick Mahomes. Furthermore, Mahomes will have to rely heavily on the tight end early in the season. Kelce will be targeted heavily  as there are plenty of new faces on the offense.
More Deals to come?
We are still waiting on the Orlando Brown Jr. situation to be settled. With both parties not coming to an agreement it seems as thought the starting left tackle will hold out of training camp for now. The Chiefs have showed with giving Travis Kelce a raise that they are willing to pay the players that they value highly.
