Fantasy Overwatch League is back for another year in 2022. Though the old platforms may not be around, players can still find ways to play as the Overwatch League heads into its fifth year. With the league kicking off May 5, it is now the perfect time to start bringing people together and starting a new league. Most players enjoy the standard season-long format, which means that players need to draft their teams soon.
Drafting as a whole can be daunting. There are a lot of players, each with varying degrees of fantasy value. The Game Haus is here for the players, veterans and rookies alike, providing some rankings to aid people in their drafts. Here are the fantasy OWL support rankings, 1-15.
[Check out Support rankings 16-30]
15. Finn, San Francisco Shock
2021 Fantasy Rank: N/A
The former O2 Blast flex support has entered the league in one of the best scenarios possible. The San Francisco Shock are looking as elite as ever, even with a slimmed down roster. Se-Jin “Finn” Oh is set up to have a great fantasy season as he is guaranteed full playing time on an incredible roster. With rumors coming out that Mink “Viol2t” Park is running the Lucio for the Shock, it looks like Finn is set to take over all flex support duties.
14. Vigilante, Washington Justice
2021 Fantasy Rank: N/A
Despite only becoming eligible to play in July, Jun “Vigilante” Kim is poised to be a second-half league winner in fantasy this year. The Justice have revamped their roster to add even more firepower at the DPS line, which should help Vigilante relax in the back line. Fantasy owners shouldn’t worry about Young-hoon “Krillin” Jeong keeping Vigilante on the bench, however they should grab both supports for a seamless transition in the middle of the year.
13. Myunb0ng, New York Excelsior
2021 Fantasy Rank: 10
Boston’s star player has swapped allegiances, and now is set up for a fine fantasy outlook in 2022. Sang-min “Myunb0ng” Seo was a carry-threat from the backline on Boston, allowing him to boost his fantasy value. He joins Nam-jin “GangNamJin” Gang in the NY Excelsior support line, with the hope that a double flex support meta comes to fruition. Even if it doesn’t the two players are talented enough to still be fantasy relevant through the season.
12. GangNamJin, New York Excelsior
2021 Fantasy Rank: 2
See above really. GangNamJin is a true star in the Overwatch League, even if the results don’t quite line up. Last year’s Mayhem squad hit a massive rough patch after a great start to the season, and GNJ still found a way to remain one of the elite fantasy support options. His rank takes a tumble this year thanks to the uncertainty of Overwatch 2. Don’t be scared to take GangNamJin after the first round, as he still has the ceiling of being a top five support in fantasy.
11. Ojee, Atlanta Reign
2021 Fantasy Rank: N/A
The only main support in the top 15 is a player that everyone should be watching, even outside of a fantasy lens. Christian “Ojee” Han is an elite main support that has only known success for his competitive career. From XL2, to ENVY, to Team DOGE and American Tornado; Ojee has accumulated an insane amount of first place finishes in Contenders. Someone could get blinded by seeing all the gold on his Liquipedia page. Alongside longtime support duo Benjamin “UltraViolet” David, Ojee is one of the few true elite main supports in the OWL right now.
10. Twilight, Toronto Defiant
2021 Fantasy Rank: 33
Joo-seok “Twlight” Lee has had a quiet past two season on the Shock. After a fantastic rookie debut on the Vancouver Titans, Twilight hasn’t had a chance to truly shine in the OWL. Twilight barely saw any playing time sitting behind Minki “Viol2t” Park, but now has full ownership of the flex support position on the Toronto Defiant. Without anyone taking away play time from Twilight, he should find himself back in his elite from and serve as a dominant fantasy support.
9. AimGod, Philadelphia Fusion
2021 Fantasy Rank: N/A
It is still a bit strange to think about how Min-swok “AimGod” Kwon was left out of the Overwatch League in 2021. After a stint in Korean Contenders, AimGod is back and ready to reclaim his spot as a top-ten fantasy support. AimGod was an elite fantasy weapon with the Washington Justice, and now he joins a strong Philadelphia Fusion squad looking to prove he’s still one of the top mechanical players in the league.
8. Viol2t, San Francisco Shock
2021 Fantasy Rank: 1
Last year’s best fantasy support took a tumble in this year’s rankings. Like many of the supports this year, there is a bit of uncertainty of what characters Viol2t will be piloting in 2022. Some rumors suggest Viol2t may be on Lucio duty, which in turn would affect his stock as an elite fantasy option. The good news for fantasy managers is that it might not matter what Viol2t plays, he’s just that good. A guaranteed top-tier support who could easily finish first among supports once again.
7. Ir1s, Houston Outlaws
2021 Fantasy Rank: 7
Seung-hyun “Ir1s” Kim had an incredible 2021 campaign. The former Atlanta Reign flex support now takes his talents to Houston, where he will play alongside Jung-won “Lastro” Mun. Typically having two flex supports would muddy the waters a bit in terms of picking the “correct” player, but Ir1s is the type of player that is worth taking a risk on. He’s insanely talented and should excel heading into this new season.
6. UltraViolet, Atlanta Reign
2021 Fantasy Rank: N/A
The Reign are fortunate to have two of the most exciting supports coming out of Contenders join their roster for 2022. Benjamin “UltraViolet” David has crushed the competition throughout his career in Contenders, with age being the only reason he just joins the league now. He has everything that a top fantasy option needs and more. He’s got a great team around him, has sole possession of the starting flex support start, and has the talent to go with it. UltraViolet can easily find himself as the top fantasy support this year.
5. Kariv, Florida Mayhem
2021 Fantasy Rank: 13
Last year felt like an off year for Young-seo “Kariv” Park, as he had a much quieter performance with the Guangzhou Charge. A new year comes with it a new team, and Kariv will be back playing in North America. He will be splitting time with Majed “SirMajed” Alrashied eventually joins the squad, but there isn’t much to indicate that Kariv will lose much playing time.
4. Kaan, Paris Eternal
2021 Fantasy Rank: 6
Emir “Kaan” Okumus was one of the surprise stars of the Paris Eternal in 2021. The rookie flex support gave carry performances week in and week out for the Eternal, and helped the team exceed all expectations. For fantasy, Kaan should be a every week starter. In just his rookie year he just missed out on placing in the top five supports. This year, Kaan is primed to be a massive fantasy asset.
3. Crimzo, Boston Uprising
2021 Fantasy Rank: 8
William “Crimzo” Hernandez is once again on a new team, this time with the Boston Uprising. It was a surprise to see the Outlaws let go of one of the best western supports in the league, but the Uprising wasted no time in snatching him up. Crimzo has an interesting team around him, but that shouldn’t scare fantasy managers from drafting Crimzo early. His talent alone is enough of a reason to take him as a number 1 support for any team.
2. Shu, Los Angeles Gladiators
2021 Fantasy Rank: 4
One of the best flex supports in the league is sure to be a top-three pick in fantasy OWL. Jin-seo “Shu” Kim is one of the most reliably great flex supports in Overwatch, and it’s a safe bet to think nothing will change with Overwatch 2. Fantasy owners should hope that Ana remains a big meta pick in the new year, so Shu can once again light up the scoreboard with one of his best heroes.
1. Fielder, Dallas Fuel
2021 Fantasy Rank: 3
The player who once had to play on 300 ping from his home for the Paris Eternal is now happily playing with his team mates on the Dallas Fuel. Joon “Fielder” Kwon checks off all of the boxes to earn the number 1 rank among supports in this preseason. He finished 9th overall in points, and there’s a chance he could finish even higher in 2022.
Wrapping Up
With the Overwatch League playing on Overwatch 2 this year, it’s going to be exciting to see just how if the predicted “elite” supports can retain their 2021 finishes. But every year there are one or two players that truly surprise the league, and come through with impressive fantasy performances. It’s important to always be flexible when it comes to roster management. If one of the early picks isn’t performing the way they should, don’t be afraid to pivot to one of the few dark horse options that may be around on the waiver wire.
