Lewis Cine Background

Position: Safety

Size: 6-foot-2, 199 pounds

Class: Junior

2021 stats: 73 total tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 1 interception, 9 passes defended

Cine made an impact for Georgia over the last two seasons and helped them win a National Championship. He is now headed to the NFL.

A Texas native, Cine signed with Georgia as a four-star prospect out of Texas. He played sparingly as a freshman and made 19 tackles. Cine then broke into the starting lineup full-time as a sophomore. He registered 52 total tackles and three passes defended. Georgia went 8-2 with a win in the Peach Bowl that season. His impact was greater in 2021, as he tallied 73 total tackles, one interception and nine passes defended. He helped Georgia win the National Championship to cap off a nice college career.

Following the National Championship, Cine declared for the NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a second to third-round pick.

Lewis Cine Strengths

Cine has a great frame for the NFL at the safety position. He is 6-foot-2 and 199 pounds, which is good size. He still has some muscle to add to his frame, but that is a nice start to an NFL body. He also has long, 32-inch arms, which will help him be disruptive.

He has a good football IQ and sees the game well. His ability to anticipate underneath routes and break on them. Cine has good recognition and diagnosis skills as well and doesn’t get fooled often. Because he understands the game, he plays fast.

His aggressiveness is very encouraging against the run. He is solid at shedding blocks and getting through traffic. His pursuit is solid and then he completes the play with a good tackle. His tackling ability should also be noted, as he has the ability to lay down some big hits.

Lewis Cine Weaknesses

Cine isn’t the greatest in man-to-man coverage. He has trouble mirroring and keeping up with wide receivers who have some wiggle. Cine loses leverage as well. He can guard some tight ends, but otherwise needs to be used in zone coverage mostly.

Another area for improvement is his ball skills. Cine is just average at breaking on the ball and making a play on it. There are times when he is caught on his backfoot and could be more aggressive to make more plays on the ball. Attacking the catch point will be a big area of emphasis for Cine.

His long speed wasn’t the greatest on tape. He ran well at the NFL Combine, so an NFL team that drafts him will have to get him to access that speed more on the field. Cine can sometimes be guilty of trying to keep things in front of him too much, because he is afraid of being beat.
