The Chicago Bears have hired Matt Eberflus as their next head coach. Eberflus was hired after Matt Nagy was fired following the 2021-2022 season after posting a 6-11 record and missing the playoffs for a second time in four years.
The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Thursday.

Eberflus began his NFL career with the Cleveland Browns, following that up with three separate jobs with the Dallas Cowboys. He was then hired as the Indianapolis Colts’ defensive coordinator in 2018, holding the position until January 2022.
The Colts’ defense since Eberflus arrived has been in the top echelon in both total defense and takeaways. He is now taking over one of the franchises that historically prides itself on its defensive play. The Bears still have Khalil Mack and a decent secondary, so if Eberflus lands a good offensive coordinator, they could become threats in the NFC North quickly.
