LCK Week 3 is done and it seems like the LCK is back to the status quo. Fans are no longer living in crazy town where Fredit Brion is unironically Top 5. After the Week 2 games, here is how the LCK teams are standing.
10: Liiv Sandbox
Liiv had a mediocre Week 1 and Week 2 was not better. A 2-0 to T1 is acceptable, but a dominate 2-0 to the Kwangdong Freecs is really not. Liiv had a lot to figure out in the next couple of weeks if they want a chance to make the LCK Playoffs. They an easier schedule this coming week with KT Rolster and Hanwha Life. If Liiv can take a series, they might be able to do something, but fans should not bet on it.
9: Kwangdong Freecs
The Kwangdong Freecs looked dramatically better. Week 1 was a lesson in agony. Week 2 the Freecs destroy Liiv Sandbox, but then threw the series versus DRX. Look, improvement is improvement. Frankly, the Kwangdong Freecs could beat a lot of teams above them, but they need to show that this week wasn’t a fluke.
8: Fredit Brion
Oh Fredit Brion. They got 4 in the Week 1 rankings just to tank. Sure, Fredit Brion played two tough teams in Gen G and DK, but they failed to take a game off either or just impress. Fredit Brion has a much easier schedule for Week 3 where they face the Kwangdong Freecs and DRX. Maybe this is their road to recovery.
7: DRX
DRX looked just faintly like the star-studded roster the team is this week. Sure, T1 2-0ed them, a common theme among LCK teams. But DRX looked somewhat capable in the Kwangdong Freecs series. The games were awful. They were close and full of throws by both teams, but DRX came out on top thanks to some huge plays. A win is a win and DRX needed it.
6: Hanwha Life Esports
Hanwha Life, much like Fredit Brion, have come back down to earth a bit. This roster is surprisingly competitive. They got 2-0ed by KT, which is bad, but almost beating Gen G made up for that. Keep an eye on Hanwha. They might still have room to surprise.
5: KT Rolster
KT looked solid this week. A good 2-0 win over Hanwha a Game 3 loss versus Nongshim. Respectable results all around the board. If they can keep this up, KT can easily climb a spot or two in the upcoming weeks.
4: Damwon Kia
Damwon Kia are still a really good team, but they are nowhere near as dominate as 2020 and 2021 Damwon. The new roster is having some growing pains still, but given time, there is little doubt they will be able to figure it out. A 1-1 week is fine. Just don’t make it a trend.
3: Nongshim RedForce
Nongshim is looking seriously competitive right now. A 2-0 week taking series off of Damwon and KT Rolster is quite good. Nongshim has a big challenge this coming week. T1. If they can take even a game off of T1, it will cement their spot as a top LCK competitor. But until that happens, 3rd is a nice place to be.
2: Gen.G
Gen.G dropped another game, not series, but a game this week against Hanwha Life Esports. And while a game is just a game, that little gap is all there is between Gen.G and T1. T1 have only dropped one game. Sure, they had an easier schedule, but you can only play what is in front of you. For that reason, Gen.G is 2nd.
1: T1
T1, along with Gen.G, are just really good. They almost always have control of games, they are trying weird picks and still make the other teams look stupid. T1 is number 1, but Gen.G is pounding on the door. It really feels like it all comes down to their Week 4 matchup.
