Here it is: a Thunder VS. Raptors recap. The boys in Blue and Orange took care of business away from home. They won against the home-team Raptors by a score of 110-109. It was an exciting match for fans that were watching Barnes and Giddey go at it. However, it was Giddey who go the last laugh as he and his crew got the win. Here are some performances from the OKC Thunder.
Josh Giddey’s Performance
It was a very exciting day as fans all over got to see some of the best rookies in the 2021 class go at it. Giddey himself put up a a decent line in 31 minutes of play: 13 points, four boards, eight dimes and a block on 5/12 shooting from the field. He also shot a nice 3/5 from three. The only problems with his performance on the day were his sub .500 shooting and five turnovers. Despite this, he put up a nice near-double double and he’s also learning to hit threes at an efficient rate. This kid is just too good to be a rookie and the Thunder have to be beyond happy about his progress. Enjoy the ride.
Jeremiah Robinson-Earl’s Performance
Earl hasn’t been doing a whole lot lately. This time, he played just 18 minutes despite starting and he only put up five points (1/2 from the field, 0/1 from three and 3/4 from the line), six boards and an assist. Over the last two weeks, he’s been playing at a mediocre pace: 5.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 0.2 steals and 0.2 blocks a game on 33% shooting and 70% from the line. Hopefully he can get it together soon because right now, he’s struggling a lot. It doesn’t help that he’s only played 24 or fewer minutes in the last three games. It shouldn’t last too much longer, though as his competition for minutes probably won’t be playing for the Thunder for much longer.
Darius Bazley’s Performance
This is what OKC fans love to see. Bazley had a much better day shooting the ball, going for 15 points (7/8 from the field and 1/2 from three), five boards, two steals and a swat. Unfortunately this kind of shooting won’t happen again for another couple years but it was definitely nice to see him get some shots to go in. Hopefully this game can get him going as he’s been in a funk the whole season. At least he’s taken a step forward with his much improved defense.
Derrick Favors’ Performance
Favors had a nice day for himself. He put up eight points (4/6 from the field), nine boards, one assist and one steal. Favors won’t be around too much longer since this team is in the middle of a full-on rebuild. If traded away, he’ll be nothing more than center depth. If gone to the right situation, however, he can produce some nice interior defense and rebounding. Expect the veteran to continue receiving random rest days.
