The Eagles traveled to the Meadowlands for the second time in two weeks to take on the New York Jets. This was an interesting game as Eagles fans got their first look at second-string quarterback Gardner Minshew II who played for an injured Jalen Hurts. Minshew took advantage of the start as he had the best day any Philly fan could have asked from him. This was also a game where Dallas Goedert had a huge day, as Philadelphia got a lot of production out of their standout tight end. The Eagles won this game by a score of 33-18. Â This article will recap the Philadelphia’ Eagles Week 13 game against the New York Jets.
Minshew Mania in New York
Minshew got his first action of the regular season this past weekend and had success against the New York Jets defense. He led the Eagles to seven straight scoring drives. He started the game by answering a Jets touchdown pass with a touchdown pass of his own to Dallas Goedert.

This was as good of a start the Eagles could have asked for from their second-string quarterback. Minshew kept this hot start going as the Eagles scored 33 points throughout this game. He ended the day completing 80 percent of his passes as he went 20/25. The Eagles’ backup quarterback passed for 242 and two touchdown passes. He did get sacked two times during this game, but Philadelphia only lost a minimal amount of yardage from those sacks, as both sacks totaled nine yards. Minshew was more of a pocket passer in this game, as the Eagles are used to having a speedy Hurts. However, the offensive line played great as they have all season and protected Minshew for the most part. This is a good sign for the Eagles, as the acquisition of Minshew in the offseason paid off.
Dallas Goedert sparked the receiving coreÂ
Goedert went off in this game as he had over 100 yards receiving and two touchdowns. He seemed to be able to find ways to get open all game. Goedert is also big and has the strength to out muscle defenders for positioning on the ball. He ended up really being clutch for the Eagles as Devonta Smith had another quiet day receiving the ball. Minshew really did not throw the ball much to him as he was only targeted four times and caught two of those balls. He ended the day with 15 total receiving yards.
However, Philadelphia got production from Quez Watkins. He was the second-leading pass catcher, as he had 60 yards. As for Jalen Reagor, Philadelphia is still struggling to get consistent production from him. He was targeted one time for seven yards. It will be interesting to see what Philadelphia does with him after the end of the season if he continues to struggle.
The Eagles Defense
The defense for Philadelphia has really helped the Eagles all year. They have kept Philadelphia in games and have given them a chance to win in the past. The Eagles only allowed the Jets offense to score 18 points on the day. This was with Zach Wilson having a decent day has he had over 200 yards passing, two touchdowns and an interception. T.J. Edwards is continuing to have a monster season as he led the team in tacking with 11 total tackles. Josh Sweat also came through for the Eagles with a big sack and helped with a sack. He had three tackles and one and a half sacks on the day.
Lastly, Marcus Epps made a huge interception as the Jets were crossing midfield early in the fourth quarter. This was a bad overthrow for Wilson as it went over his receiver’s head and into the hands of Epps. Overall, this was another good defensive showing for the Eagles. Philadelphia will have to keep this up if they hope to secure a Wildcard berth. This concludes this recap of Philadelphia Eagles’ Week 13 game against the Jets.
