While the 2022 NFL Draft is still far off in the distance, players that will be drafted early are on the field now. Each week presents unique matchups for draft prospects and this week is no different. Here are NFL Draft prospects to watch in college football week 13.
1. David Ojabo, EDGE, Michigan Wolverines
Michigan has set themselves up well with just one loss on the season. They have a good defense and a pass rush that is capable of giving any team fits. Aidan Hutchinson gets a lot of the headlines, but David Ojabo is one of the most improved players in the country. After having no sacks in 2020, Ojabo has 10 sacks and 10 tackles for loss.
The Wolverines will need Ojaba to create pressure on Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud and make him uncomfortable. With Ohio State having one of the best offenses in the country, Michigan will have to play out of their minds. A good game could help Ojabo’s already-rising stock. He is currently projected to be selected before the end of round two in the 2022 NFL Draft.
2. Chris Olave, WR, Ohio State Buckeyes
Ohio State is going into the game with Michigan with a lot of momentum. They have improved, specifically on offense, since their loss to Oregon. Their star-studded receivers are benefitting from Stroud’s good play, but also are helping him out greatly. Olave has 58 catches for 848 yards and 13 touchdowns on the year as a Biletnikoff Finalist.
Olave will be going up against a stout Michigan defense. His ability to get open and be so smooth makes him a tough matchup. He can break open the game for the Buckeyes and help them get a big win. Olave is currently projected to be a first or second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
3. Jameson Williams, WR, Alabama Crimson Tide
Alabama has just one loss on the season, which came to Texas A&M. They likely have to win out to make the College Football Playoff. Because their defense isn’t as good as in past years, the Crimson Tide offense will be expected to produce. Ohio State transfer Jameson Williams has helped produce big plays this season with 59 receptions for 1,218 yards and 13 touchdowns.
The last regular-season game for the Crimson Tide will be against their rivals, the Auburn Tigers. While AUburn isn’t expected to be too competitive, they do feature two future NFL corners in Nehemiah Pritchett and Roger McCreary. Williams will get some good reps against some really good corners in this game. If he plays well, the speedster can help raise his stock even more after not getting much experience for Ohio State. He is currently projected to be drafted before round two is over in the 2022 NFL Draft.
4. Phil Jurkovec, QB, Boston College Eagles
Boston College had to endure a rough injury to Phil Jurkovec this season, but they are still bowl eligible. Jurkovec has returned to the lineup and helped them win two of three games. He has passed for 895 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions on 57.6 percent completion in five games.
The Eagles will have a shootout of a game against Wake Forest in week 13. Jurkovec hasn’t been able to play a full season, so it will be important to finish the season strong. He is currently projected to be a first or second-round pick, but that could all change if he impresses in the last two games of the season.
5. Travon Walker, DL, Georgia Bulldogs
Georgia has had a dream of a season and are currently undefeated as the top-ranked team in the country. They have been fueled by the best defense in the country, which allows just 7.5 points per game. Jordan Davis gets a lot of the headlines for his play on the defensive line, but Travon Walker has also had a great season for the Bulldogs. He has 5.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks on the season.
The Bulldogs are expected to steamroll Georgia Tech this week. They will have to shut down Georgia Tech star running back Jahmyr Gibbs. Walker will have to be disruptive on the line with Davis to help slow Gibbs down. His stock has already risen a lot this season, but Walker can still play his way into being a first-round draft pick.
