After a major search for a team to buyout Rekkles, Karmine Corp, arguably the top LFL team in Europe. This ends Rekkles’ short time with G2 in the LEC. There was at least a 1 million Euro buyout for Rekkles according to their owner Ocelot. Now one of the greatest western players of all time will be heading to one of the many lower leagues in Europe.

Rekkles had a very short stint on G2 after surprising everyone by leaving Fnatic and ending up on their biggest rivals. He followed in the footsteps of Caps, another major Fnatic member by leaving. The team couldn’t find success though. They were unable to make Worlds even after being seen as one of the top teams not just in the LEC, but also the world.
There were rumors of G2 and Rekkles having some issues and G2 wanting to go younger. While many expected Rekkles to find a team in the LCS or LEC, nothing was able to come together. Some could argue that it might be an even bigger surprise that he is not currently on one of the 20 teams and many have pointed to his expensive buyout price from G2.
No matter what it is, Karmine Corp are clearly looking to make moves after just missing out on the LEC Schalke 04 spot that was for sale this past year. With rumors of there being an LEC expansion to 12 teams, this feels like a move that could see Karmine Corp announcing that they are ready to make the jump in 2023.
