The Pittsburgh Steelers officially agreed on a deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars for inside linebacker, Joe Schobert.
The Steelers officially announced the trade last Thursday, August 12, and traded one of their late-round draft spots for Schobert. The Steelers announced they’ve waived Tegray Scales.
However, Scales may return to the Steelers again shortly due to his history of being on and off Pittsburgh’s roster several times since 2019.
Despite the loss of a draft pick spot in the 6th round, Tomlin is eager to have Schobert join the team.
“Joe Schobert’s been highly productive in every circumstance that he’s been in,” Tomlin told Steelers media.
“He’s a sideline-to-sideline tackler; he’s good in coverage, has coverage production in terms of interceptions, sack production. He plays a well-rounded game, and so we’re excited about infusing him into what we do.”
The Steelers expect Schobert to arrive at Steeler Training Camp today, August 15.
NFL analysis expect Schobert to make $7.3 million this season, and to start for the Steelers, in the middle of the Steelers’ defense.
