Last week on the Knightly Recap, the Vegas Golden Knights had a four game homestand against the Los Angeles Kings and Minnesota Wild. They’ve won one of those four games dropping down to second place in the Honda West Division. The Colorado Avalanche currently hold the top seed in the division.
This week on the Knightly Recap, the Golden Knights look to redeem themselves as they go on a two game road trip to face the St. Louis Blues for the final time in St. Louis, MO. They then come back home for two home games against the Arizona Coyotes. With that said, welcome to week thirteen of the Knightly Recap.
April 5 at St. Louis Blues
Nothing Beats Home
Golden Knights defenseman Alex Pietrangelo returns to St. Louis for the first time since being traded from the Blues last offseason. Pietrangelo had spent all of his career with the Blues before coming to Vegas. He also helped lead the team win their first Stanley Cup in franchise history as the team captain. The 12 year veteran recorded an assist in his return back to where he started his NHL career.

Vegas Gave St. Louis the Monday Blues
It was another dominating showing for the Golden Knights as they scored four unanswered goals during the second period. The Golden Knights scored all four goals within a six minute span. And the goals mostly came from role players which were desperately needed from this team. Also, the Golden Knights were able to hold their own defensively as the Blues kept pace with them throughout the game.

April 7 at St. Louis Blues
St. Louis Gave Vegas the Blues
In what will be the last meeting of the season between both teams, St. Louis knew that they haven’t been playing the way they want to especially on home ice. Though they weren’t able to put up a six pack the way the Golden Knights did, the Blues were able to turn the tides into their favor defensively. Unlike last game, St. Louis kept pressuring Vegas in their defensive zone forcing the Golden Knights to make unnecessary plays. All of their goals came from transition plays due to their sound defensive game plan.
Welcome to the Jordan Binnington Show
Up until this game, Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington had lost his last seven starts putting the team in a precarious spot during this playoff push. However, Binnington played the way we all know how he plays. He saved 50 of 51 Golden Knights shots which would be the highest amount of shots on goal from the team this season.
Final score: 3-1 STL
April 9 vs. Arizona Coyotes
Talk About a Fast Start
What’s one way a hockey team can redeem themselves after a loss? One way is to score four straight goals in one period. And that’s exactly what the Golden Knights did during the first period. The Golden Knights scored those four goals in 5:41. By far, this has been the best start for the team this season. Golden Knights forwards Jonathan Marchessault, William Carrier, Keegan Kolesar and Reilly Smith were the first period goal scorers.

Third Period Madness
The Golden Knights were enjoying a comfortable 5-2 lead heading into the third period. However, the Coyotes stayed in the game scoring two unanswered goals 1:02 apart to cut the lead to two. Smith then scored later in the period before Coyotes forward Michael Bunting scored 15 seconds after Smith’s goal.
The game became interesting from that point on until Golden Knights forward Max Pacioretty scored the game winning empty net goal with just under a minute left.
Final score 7-4 VGK
