Walker Little Background

Position: Offensive Tackle

Size: 6-foot-7, 313 pounds

Class: Senior

2018 stats: All Pac-12 First Team

Little wasn’t able to play too many snaps at the collegiate level, but was a solid player when he was able to play. He is now going to have to adjust from not playing for a while to playing in the NFL.

Out of high school, Little was one of the best recruits in the country and decided to go from the state of Texas to Stanford. He was the Pac-12 Freshman Offensive Co-Player of the Year, as he was able to crack the starting lineup. The Cardinal won nine games that season, but lost the Alamo Bowl. Little was an All-Pac-12 performer as a sophomore and helped Stanford win nine games including the Sun Bowl. He started the opening game of the 2019 season, but suffered a knee injury, wich ended his season. Little than opted out of the 2020 season.

Although Little hasn’t played football in a couple of seasons, he is still a solid player. He is currently projected to be a third to fifth round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Strengths

Little has great size, as he measures in at 6-foot-7 and 313 pounds. He has solid height and his frame is solidly filled out. To go along with his size, Little has solid arm length at 33.75-inches. He has more than enough measurables to be a starting tackle in the NFL.

For his size, Little has good athleticism. He has good quickness at the snap of the ball and can carry that throughout a play. Little has solid body control and flexibility as well, which keeps defenders from getting the edge on him. He is able to recover and also get to the second level because of his movement skills.

He can handle athletic, speed rushers on the outside. Little has the athleticism and solid footwork to mirror and recover if the speed rushers get a step on him. His flexibility also helps in this regard, as he can bend decently well. Little can also overpower some of the smaller pass rushers who are fast.

Weaknesses

Little will be very rusty when he joins an NFL team. He played well for the first two seasons of his Stanford career. Then he played one game in 2019 before having a knee injury. Teams will need to check out the knee before drafting him. His choice to sit out the 2020 season just leaves him with very little recent tape.

He moves well, but Little has shown that he can be overpowered. Strong defensive ends can move him around a little bit. He struggles blocking against the bull rush. Little does not have a great anchor and won’t move bodies in the running game either, even if he does execute his assignment.

His hand usage can improve to help him win more battles. Little could have better timing with his strikes, which would help negate some of the defenders’ power. If he can strike with more power as well, it will slow down their momentum, as they try to convert speed to power.
