The 2021 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Teven Jenkins 2021 NFL Draft Profile.
Teven Jenkins Background
Position: Offensive Tackle
Size: 6-foot-6, 310 pounds
Class: Redshirt Senior
2020 stats: All Big-12 First Team
Jenkins was a good lineman for Oklahoma State for the last three seasons. Now he is getting ready for the 2021 NFL Draft.
In high school, Jenkins was a three-star recruit out of Kansas who decided to join Mike Gundy at Oklahoma State. He redshirted in his first year on campus. As a redshirt freshman in 2017, Jenkins got his first start and got regular playing time. It was the 2018 season where Jenkins jumped into the starting lineup where he played both left and right tackle. The Cowboys went 7-6 with a win in the Liberty Bowl that season. For the 2019 season, Jenkins was an Honorable Mention All-Big 12 performer. Oklahoma State won eight games during the regular season, but lost the Texas Bowl. In 2020, Jenkins was First Team All-Big 12 and Oklahoma State went 8-3 with a win in the Cheez-It Bowl.
After three solid seasons at tackle for the Cowboys, Jenkins is heading to the NFL. He is currently projected to be a first or second round pick.
Strengths
Jenkins has great strength for an NFL offensive tackle. He moves people completely out of the way in the running game, which opens up huge holes for running backs to go through. In his pass blocking, he has a good anchor and is rarely overpowered. His strength and physicality are elite for this class.
At right tackle, Jenkins is a great run blocker. His strength plays into this, as he is able to dominate most of his matchups. He can win his matchup to create a hole, then he is able to move on to the second level decently well to help spring long runs. Jenkins is ready for the NFL as a run blocker right now.
He uses his hands very well. Jenkins has a strong punch, which stifles defenders. He also has good hand placement and timing. To go along with his good hand usage, Jenkins has great grip strength, which helps him sustain his blocks. Once Jenkins gets his hands on a defender, he is usually able to finish the rep well.
Weaknesses
His movement ability isn’t the greatest. Jenkins has a tough time mirroring defenders at times, which means they can beat him, especially when they change direction on him. He is effective at getting to the second level as a run blocker, but doesn’t get their as quickly as other prospects.
He isn’t very proven as a pass blocker. As mentioned, he has trouble staying in front of pass rushers if they are agile. Their speed can give him trouble because he simply doesn’t have the athleticism to keep up. Jenkins also hasn’t gotten a lot of reps against great pass rushers. He’ll need to rely on his strength and length to win in pass protection situations.
Jenkins is going to be one of the older prospects in this draft at 23 years old. He was a redshirt senior, which gave him three years of experience, but in a tiebreaker situation, teams may want to go with a younger prospect. Jenkins may have already reached his athletic peak.
Projected Draft Range: First Round Pick-Second Round Pick
