The bowl season gives fans and scouts alike a chance to analyze NFL Draft prospects against solid competition. Bowl scheduling allows all eyes to be on each game. Here are the NFL Draft prospects in the 2020 Goodyear Cotton Bowl.
Oklahoma Sooners Draft Prospects
Creed Humphrey, OG/C
After redshirting in 2017, Humphrey has been one of the best linemen in the Big 12. He was named second team All Big-12 as a redshirt freshman and a second-team All-American as a sophomore. His blocking has helped Oklahoma have one of the best offenses in the country over the last few years.
At 6-foot-5 and 320 pounds, Humphrey has great size for an interior offensive lineman in the NFL. He has experience and has performed on the biggest stages of college football. Humphrey is a projected first or second round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Projected Draft Range: First Round Pick-Second Round Pick
While he saw the field a little bit as a freshman, Turner-Yell has been one of Oklahoma’s best defensive players over the last two seasons. In his career, the safety has 133 total tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, five passes defended, one interception and one forced fumble. This season, Turner-Yell has totaled 46 tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss, one pass defended and one interception.
He is 5-foot-10 and 195 pounds, which will be on the smaller side for an NFL safety. If Turner-Yell can add some muscle and prove that he can contribute on special teams, it could make him an even more valuable player. In the draft, Turner-Yell should expect to be taken in the middle to late rounds.
Projected Draft Range: Fourth Round Pick-Sixth Round Pick
Other Draft Prospects
CB Brendan Radley-Hiles (5th-7th), DT Jalen Redmond (5th-7th), OT Adrian Ealy (6th-UFA), OG/C Marquis Haynes (6th-UFA), OT Erik Swenson (6th-UFA), LB Caleb Kelly (6th-UFA), DL LaRon Stokes (6th-UFA), RB Kennedy Brooks (6th-UFA), WR Charleston Rambo (6th-UFA), Edge Ronnie Perkins (UFA), RB Rhamondre Stevenson (UFA), Edge Nik Bonitto (UFA), WR Theo Howard (UFA), CB Tre Norwood (UFA)
Florida Gators Draft Prospects
Kyle Trask, QB
There aren’t many better stories than Kyle Trask in college football. From backup quarterback in high school to possible Heisman winner, Trask has been a fun story to follow for Florida. Over his time as a Gator, Trask has passed for 7,228 yards, 69 touchdowns and 12 interceptions on 68.3 percent completion. This season, Trask has put up big numbers with 4,125 passing yards, 43 touchdowns and five interceptions on 69.7 percent completion in just 11 games played.
Trask has the size of an NFL quarterback at 6-foot-5 and 240 pounds. His arm talent will be scrutinized a lot before the draft comes around, but he has moved himself up draft boards this year. Trask could be drafted anywhere from the first round to the third.
Projected Draft Range: First Round Pick-Third Round Pick
Kadarius Toney, WR
Toney is one of the more electric players in the country once he has the ball in his hands and he has aided Trask in having such a good year. He has 120 catches, 1,590 yards and 12 touchdowns in his career. Most of his production has come this year, where he has registered 70 catches for 984 yards and 10 touchdowns.
At 6-foot and 193 pounds, Toney won’t be the biggest receiver in the league. That is not necessarily a bad thing though, as he can operate on the outside or in the slot and has great quickness. He should be selected in the first few rounds of the 2021 NFL Draft.
Projected Draft Range: First Round Pick-Third Round Pick
Other Draft Prospects
*Tight end Kyle Pitts has opted out of this bowl game. He is a projected top 15 pick.
