Five games into his sixth season with the Atlanta Falcons head coach Dan Quinn will likely be fired by the team. Quinn has been on the hot seat for a couple of seasons so after an 0-5 start it isn’t to shocking that this happened. The news was first reported by Jeff Schultz of the Athletic.
The Falcons' firing of Dan Quinn has been all but finalized and an announcement could come Monday or Tuesday, a source told @TheAthletic. The Falcons have started 0-5 for the first time since 1997 and Quinn is 14-23 since 2018. @TheAthleticNFL

Now this means that Quinn hasn’t officially been fired by the team, but the team will make the announcement at the beginning of next week. The Falcons have been extremely disappointing on both side of the ball and after 23-16 loss to the Carolina Panthers in Week 5, the team believes it would be best for their future to part with Quinn.
Quinn is 43-41 since joining the Falcons in 2015. During his time with the team he had two playoff appearances in the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons. During his second season with the team not only did quarterback Matt Ryan win league MVP but the Falcons made their second Super Bowl appearance in team history.
However during Super Bowl 51, the Falcons game up a 28-3 lead with a little over two minutes left in the third quarter to the New England Patriots. That was the biggest comeback in Super Bowl history. Since then Quinn and the Falcons have had a reputation for blowing leads and games. This season Falcons have blown two massive leads this season. In Week 2 the Falcons blew a 29-10 halftime lead to the Dallas Cowboys after the Falcons failed to recover an onside quick in a puzzling way. Then the following week the Chicago Bears scored 20 unanswered points against the Falcons in the fourth quarter when they were down 26-10.
Though it has not been made official, it is likely that offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter takes over as interm head coach for the remainder of the season. Koetter has experience at the position from when he was the head coach in Tampa Bay from 2016-2018.
