The 2020 NFL Draft has just ended, but it is never too early to look ahead. Here is the 2021 NFL Mock Draft August 26.
Note: Draft order is by current Super Bowl odds.
1. Jacksonville Jaguars- Trevor Lawrence, QB, Clemson
If the Jaguars are picking this high next season, Minshew-Mania is likely over. Whoever picks number one will have to take Trevor Lawrence, who has lived up to the hype as one of the best quarterback prospects out of high school in recent memory.
2. Washington Football Team- Ja’Marr Chase, WR, LSU
For Dwayne Haskins to develop, he needs to be given weapons. Terry McLaurin is good, but more is needed. Chase had a great 2019 season and was the best receiver in college football.
3. Cincinnati Bengals- Penei Sewell, OT, Oregon
There have already been videos of Joe Burrow running for his life in training camp. The Bengals can take Sewell and can move Jonah Williams to right tackle. Sewell played so well in 2019 that some are calling him the best tackle prospect in years.
4. Carolina Panthers- Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State
The Panthers have Teddy Bridgewater for this season, but if he doesn’t perform, they will be looking for a quarterback of the future. Fields is a good athlete, but can also let it rip, showing it over and over for the Buckeyes in 2019.
5. Miami Dolphins- Micah Parsons, LB, Penn State
This offseason, the Dolphins added a lot to their defense in free agency. They can still upgrade at linebacker and can get an instant playmaker in Parsons. Micah Parsons is one of the best players in the Big Ten and can do almost anything asked of a linebacker.
6. New York Jets- Gregory Rousseau, Edge, Miami
The Jets haven’t had a great pass rush for years. Rousseau had a great redshirt freshman season, but needs more technical work before he can be an elite pass rusher in the NFL.
7. New York Giants- Caleb Farley, CB, Virginia Tech
Before DeAndre Baker’s arrest, the Giants needed help at corner. Farley will sit out the 2020 college football season, but really doesn’t have many holes in his game.
8. Las Vegas Raiders- Trey Lance, QB, North Dakota State
If the Raiders don’t make the playoffs again, they will likely be looking for a quarterback. Lance may be coming from the FCS, but he protects the football, has good athleticism and can make some great throws.
9. Detroit Lions- Marvin Wilson, DT, Florida State
Detroit has Danny Shelton, but could use some help on the interior of their defensive line. Wilson surprised many when he chose to go back to Florida State for another year.
10. Miami Dolphins (via HOU)- Rashod Bateman, WR, Minnesota
After drafting Tua Tagovailoa, the Dolphins need to get him more weapons to go with DeVante Parker and Mike Gesicki. Bateman is a wide receiver who doesn’t have many weaknesses, which allowed him to opt out of the 2020 college football season.
11. Jacksonville Jaguars (via LAR)- Jaylen Waddle, WR, Alabama
D.J. Chark is a solid receiver, but the Jaguars should get Lawrence some help to really make the offense go. Waddle is a great returner and has great run after the catch ability.
12. Los Angeles Chargers- Sam Cosmi, OT, Texas
The Chargers do have Bryan Bulaga and Sam Tevi at tackle, but Bulaga is aging and Tevi could be upgraded. They’ll need to protect Justin Herbert as he develops.
13. Atlanta Falcons- Travis Etienne, RB, Clemson
Atlanta is taking a risk by signing Todd Gurley. If he produces well this year, they can address other needs, but if his knee issues flair up they may need to draft a running back. Etienne would’ve been one of the best backs in the 2020 NFL Draft, but chose to go back to school for another year.
14. Denver Broncos- Patrick Surtain, CB, Alabama
After upgrading the offense in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Broncos can focus on their secondary in 2021. Surtain can play across from newly acquired A.J. Bouye.
15. Arizona Cardinals- Jalen Mayfield, OT, Michigan
The Cardinals drafted Josh Jones in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft, but could use some more offensive line help. Mayfield moves well and could develop into a great tackle in the league.
16. Chicago Bears- Shaun Wade, CB, Ohio State
Rookie Jaylon Johnson is likely going to be in the lineup for the Bears this season. If he pans out, they will still need a slot corner. Shaun Wade is one of the only experienced players returning to the Ohio State secondary from last season. With no Big Ten season, he may declare for the draft.
17. Cleveland Browns- Carlos Basham, Edge, Wake Forest
The Browns have a balanced roster now that they have addressed the offensive line. They should take another edge rusher to be opposite Myles Garrett for the long haul.
18. Tennessee Titans- Rondale Moore, WR, Purdue
The focus of the Titans’ offense is running the ball with Derrick Henry, but they could use another wide receiver to pair with A.J. Brown. Moore has all the makings of a great slot receiver in the NFL.
19. Buffalo Bills- Kyle Pitts, TE, Florida
Stefon Diggs will help Josh Allen, but the Bills should also get a tight end to help out the young quarterback. Pitts has good athleticism and could develop into a matchup nightmare.
20. Minnesota Vikings- Hamsah Nasirildeen, S, Florida State
Anthony Harris was franchise-tagged and will likely walk next season. The Vikings should look for a replacement in the 2021 NFL Draft.
21. Pittsburgh Steelers- Trey Smith, OG/C, Tennessee
Smith looks like he could be the first guard off the board in the 2021 NFL Draft. The Steelers signed Stefan Wisniewski, but he is aging.
22. Green Bay Packers- Dylan Moses, LB, Alabama
Green Bay lost Blake Martinez this offseason, so they will need to get a long-term solution at inside linebacker. Moses is very athletic, but missed the 2019 college football season with a knee injury.
23. New England Patriots- Devonta Smith, WR, Alabama
The Patriots haven’t gotten much out of N’Keal Harry yet and Julian Edelman isn’t getting younger. They should target a wide receiver to help Cam Newton if he remains the quarterback after the 2020 season.
24. Indianapolis Colts- Jaycee Horn, CB, South Carolina
Indianapolis has a solid defense, but they should try to add corners, as adding Xavier Rhodes likely isn’t the solution at cornerback.
25. Philadelphia Eagles- Chazz Surratt, LB, North Carolina
The Eagles addressed wide receiver and cornerback this offseason. Now they need to focus on adding a linebacker, as they are pretty thin at the position.
26. New York Jets (via SEA)- Tamorrion Terry, WR, Florida State
While the Jets drafted Denzel Mims this past year, more is needed for the Jets to have a good offense.
27. Dallas Cowboys- Jaylen Twymann, DT, Pittsburgh
The Cowboys just cut Gerald McCoy due to injury and Trysten Hill shouldn’t be trusted to get a lot of snaps. While undersized, Twymann was productive during the 2019 season.
28. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Quincy Roche, Edge, Miami
Shaq Barrett is on the franchise tag and Jason Pierre-Paul is aging. If the offense stays in tact, the defense should be addressed to give the Bucs the best chance to win a Super Bowl.
29. New Orleans Saints- Tyson Campbell, CB, Georgia
Janoris Jenkins was signed to play opposite of Marshon Lattimore, but the Saints should explore corners in the 2021 NFL Draft.
30. San Francisco 49ers- Israel Mukuamu, CB, South Carolina
The 49ers need to get a better corner to help slow down high-powered passing attacks.
31. Baltimore Ravens- Jevon Holland, S, Oregon
With Earl Thomas out, the Ravens need another safety to pair with Chuck Clark.
32. Kansas City Chiefs- Wyatt Davis, OG/C, Ohio State
The Chiefs have added a running back for the future, but need to continue to protect Patrick Mahomes.
