Former Washington tight end Jordan Reed has signed with the San Francisco 49ers. After spending the beginning of the 2019 season on Washington’s injured reserve list, he was released by the team, making him a free agent.
The Athletic’s Matt Barrows reported the news via Twitter on Monday.
#49ers and TE Jordan Reed agreed to a one-year deal, per source. The #49ers and Ravens had been bidding for his services. The 49ers won out.

Reed, while never playing in all 16 games of an NFL season since he entered the league in 2013, has been productive while he is on the field. The one-time Pro Bowler (2016), collected 558 yards and two touchdowns in 2018.
He also had a double-digit touchdown season in 2015, and flirted with a 1,000-yard season in the same year. Reed will now play second fiddle to George Kittle on the Niners, one of the best players in the league, regardless of position.
