J.T. Realmuto has officially lost his arbitration case against the Philadelphia Phillies. The arbitrator has ruled in favor of the team, meaning the two-time All-Star will make $10 million in 2020, instead of the $12.4 million he was seeking. It is still a $3.95 million raise for the catcher, who make $6.05 million in 2019.
USA TODAY Sports’ Bob Nightengale reported the news via Twitter on Thursday.

After being acquired by the Phillies from the Miami Marlins, Realmuto was a standout on the team. He earned an All-Star selection, a Gold Glove and a Silver Slugger. This was his second straight Silver Slugger and All-Star appearance.
Realmuto batted .275, batting in 83 runs and hit 25 home runs. Despite his production, this was actually the fourth year in a row his batting average fell. The Phillies are still hoping to re-sign him despite moving into arbitration this offseason.
Teams have won seven arbitration cases to players’ four during the 2019-2020 offseason. This case ensured a winning record for teams over players.
