The Washington Redskins have picked up Adrian Peterson’s club option for 2020. He will be paid $2.25 million, with a $750,000 signing bonus and a roster bonus of over $100,000. This is the second year of the two-year contract he signed in 2019.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the news on Wednesday morning via Twitter.

Peterson rushed 211 times for 898 yards and five touchdowns in 2019. He only fumbled three times on the season. He was 34-years-old in 2019.
This is actually Peterson’s third year in the nation’s capital, as he signed a one-year contract in 2018. Due to Washington’s lack of talent on offense and the rebuilding state of their franchise, he was brought along to assure a veteran presence. Even so, he continues to produce, even if it is not on the MVP level he exhibited in 2012.
After playing in Minnesota for 10 years, he bounced around from Arizona, to New Orleans and eventually settled in Washington. 2020 will be his 16th year in the NFL.
