John Beilein is out as head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers. He is expected to officially step down on Wednesday, as players return to practice from the All-Star Break.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported the news via Twitter on Tuesday night.
Story filed to ESPN: After a brief and tumultuous tenure, John Beilein is leaving as Cleveland's coach. Associate HC JB Bickerstaff will be elevated to head coach. Beilein's expected to say goodbye to staff and players on Wednesday upon team's return from All-Star Break.

Since being hired by the Cavaliers in the offseason, Beilein has had a difficult ride as an NBA head coach. The Cavs have a record of 14-40 on the season, which is worst in the Eastern Conference. It is the second-worst in the entire league, behind Golden State (at 12-43).
His 54-game tenure as head coach earns him the fifth-shortest coaching stint in NBA history. He coached four more games than Maurice Cheeks (who sits in the fourth spot) when he coached the Pistons in 2013.
Associate coach JB Bickerstaff will take on coaching duties in the interim. Cleveland’s first game after the All-Star Break will be on Friday against the Wizards in Washington D.C.
