The Jacksonville Jaguars and offensive coordinator John DeFilippo have agreed to part ways. DeFilippo had served only one season as the Jags’ coordinator.
The Jaguars official Twitter account announced the move on Monday morning.
The Jacksonville Jaguars and Offensive Coordinator John DeFilippo have mutually agreed to part ways.
Head Coach Doug Marrone will begin the offensive coordinator search immediately.

Jacksonville was 20th in the NFL in yards per game under DeFilippo in 2019. Their passing attack was ranked 16th and their rush yards per game were 17th. At 18.8, the Jags’ points per game were near the bottom of the league, ranking 26th.
DeFilippo was forced to contend with a rookie starting quarterback after free agent acquisition Nick Foles broke his collarbone in Week 1. Gardner Minshew earned the fascination of the entire league while playing in 14 games. As a starter, he put up a 6-6 record in 12 games. Foles, however went 0-4 in his four starts this year.
Clearly, something was not gelling on the offensive side of the ball. According to the above tweet and statement, both parties have agreed to part ways. This indicates an understanding by both the coordinator and the organization that things were not working.
Head coach Doug Marrone has been retained for 2020 and will start looking for a new offensive coordinator immediately.
