The Denver Broncos have decided to part ways with offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello. This comes after the team announced they were keeping all three coordinators going in to next season. The Broncos, 7-9 during the 2019 season, finished 28th in total offense. They were 28th in the league in red zone efficiency and 30th on third down conversions. Head coach Vic Fangio came to his senses and decided a change was needed.
All signs point to the Broncos hiring former Giants head coach Pat Shurmur. Shurmur has had success as an offensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles and Minnesota Vikings, and had success in developing rookie quarterback Daniel Jones for the Giants. Shurmur would be expected to further develop quarterback Drew Lock, who will be entering his sophomore season.
Should he be signed, Shurmur would be the Broncos fifth offensive coordinator in five seasons.
