The Washington Redskins on Tuesday placed Derrius Guice on injured reserve for the remainder of the 2019 season. Reporters broke the news of a sprained MCL Tuesday morning after MRI results came back.
Guice, a second-year running back out of LSU, notably tore his left ACL in the 2018 preseason. He also injured his right knee in Week 1 this season against the Philadelphia Eagles: his initial IR placement.
This is the third time in Guice’s NFL career he’s been placed on injured reserve.

Washington Forced to Turn to the Hall-of-Famer
In Guice’s absence, the Redskins will need Adrian Peterson more than ever. The future Hall-of-Famer currently leads the team in rushing yards, rushing attempts and rushing touchdowns. Guice, however, leads the team in yards per carry with a staggering number of 5.8.
Next to Peterson will be Wendell Smallwood, a passing down-back the Redskins signed from the Eagles earlier this season.
According to NFL.com, Washington ranks 20th in rushing offense.
