New York Giants star running back Saquon Barkley suffered an ankle injury in the team’s week 3 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It is now confirmed as a high-ankle sprain and Barkley is expected to be out several weeks. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport was the first to report that Barkley would be out for several weeks.
The #Giants are expecting to be without star RB Saquon Barkley for the next several weeks because of his high-ankle sprain, source said. Not surprising given the nature of the injury and his presence with a walking boot and crutches on the sideline.

Barkley, 22, had 37 carries for 237 yards and one touchdown on the season so far this year. He is the unquestioned playmaker of the Giants’ offense and was looked upon to give new starting quarterback Daniel Jones a weapon out of the backfield.
Wayne Gallman will now step in for the injured Barkley as New York’s lead back.
