In a postgame interview after their match with the Atlanta Reign, Dusttin “Dogman” Bowerman used the stage to take a quick shot at Fuel head coach, Aaron “Aero” Atkins when talking about the players selected for Team USA’s OWWC roster. When asked to expand on this by Tommy Magelssen of the Dallas News, Dogman doubled down on this, offering the following on the Fuel’s head coach.
“I mean, I wish the game was a little cleaner so the trash talk could be smoother. But, for the most part, I think it’s just because we have frd, Babybay, Gator and Hawk on our academy team. These are all players eligible for Team USA and three didn’t even make it past the first round of trials. So, I think the competency of Team USA’s head coach and the coaching staff wasn’t very good this year.”
Dogman didn’t specify which players didn’t make that initial cut after teammate Nathan “frd” Goebel encouraged him not to continue on the point. Dogman obliged there, but continued in on his thoughts towards Aero.
“I think he’s [Aero] a nice guy, I just think he’s incompetent. Both in his roster selection with Team USA and with his coaching of the Dallas Fuel this year.”
Dogman talked quickly throughout the whole interview, his statements filled with passion and fervor. His teammates, on the other hand, were quieter. Other than making his statement advising Dogman to discontinue his answer, frd remained calm throughout the tense interview, while Andrej “babybay” Francisty found a moment to lean back and laugh and remark how spicy Dogman’s comments were.
After these questions, another member of the press shifted the conversation to talk about the Fuel’s plans for the 2020 season.
Other than this tweet by Dogman, neither has made any other statements regarding the conflict.
Should’ve been a 4-0 playing to have fun sometimes costs maps and I screwed up for sure. Won’t happen again but let’s keep having fun guys shit talk and all 😁
