The last day of the Twitch Rivals Teamfight Tactics Tournament has concluded. It has been an absolute roller coaster of events culminating into one climactic finish. With the finalists decided and their play styles on the table, the 16 players were ready to put on a show.
The participants were split into two lobbies of 8 and earned money based on their placement. The lobbies were then shuffled. After 4 rounds, the top 8 players would move on to an all or nothing final game. The winner would receive a $5,000 bonus while everyone else got nothing extra.
Who Made the Cut?
After the initial 8 games, the finalists moving on were Kripp, Uthenera, Reckful, Dogdog, GN_GG, TidesOfTime, JoshOG and SuperJJ102. Something interesting to note is that NO PLAYER won more than one of these games, implying that this was a very competitive pool. Notable exclusions were Ibaai, who was a mere $25 away from making top 8, and Becca who placed top 4 in her first two games, but couldn’t keep up the pace.
The Final Battle
The stage was set for the $5,000 winner takes all match. The game started out super fast, with Kripp and SuperJJ pushing the pace. With everyone forced to accelerate, the game took on an aggressive state.
The top 3 consisted of Uthenera and Kripp running Ninja Assassins and JoshOG running his signature Carrybear Brawlers. However, the match was about to turn on its head when JoshOG decided to make a double Assassin Carrybear. You heard that right.
While it was admittedly a mistake, all of that AD did lead to some insane AOE Volibear crits of up to 1500 damage. In the end, Uthenera’s Ninja Assassins were no match for the bear, and JoshOG took home the $5,000 bonus. Here are the final cash earnings for the top 16 players in the event.
JoshOG took home the lion’s share of the cash, with Uthenera coming second overall. Kripp and Reckful took third and fourth respectively.
With Twitch Rivals coming to a close, the ripple that it had on the game will certainly be felt for a while. While the streamers present are not really the best of the best when it comes to the game, what was showcased may be making its way into many people’s playbooks.
