The Los Angeles Gladiators face off against both teams from the North in Week 4 of Stage 3. They play the Toronto Defiant on Friday, and play the Vancouver Titans on Sunday. This will be the second time the Gladiators play the Titans in Stage 3. Los Angeles is coming off of a loss against the Shanghai Dragons in Week 3, and they will be looking to get two wins this upcoming week, especially after seeing the Titans lose their first regular season game.
Week 3 Recap
Shanghai Dragons: 10-8 (3-1 in Stage 3)
The Gladiators were unable to beat the Shanghai Dragons. They fell 3-1, which was the opposite of the scoreline in Stage 2 when the teams faced one another. Los Angeles were unable to cope with the strong defense and DPS focused compositions of the Shanghai Dragons. The Gladiators played DPS heroes themselves, but were unable to best the surging Dragons.
Player of the Game:
The player of the game against Shanghai was Lane “Surefour” Roberts. His Roadhog play on Eichenwalde was the highlight of the match. Other than that, the Gladiators will look to forget this game going forward.
Week 4 Preview
Toronto Defiant: 7-10 (0-3 in Stage 3)
The Toronto Defiant are not the most difficult opponent for the Gladiators to face. This change of pace after losing to Shanghai will be welcomed, and should boost their confidence going into their match against Vancouver. Toronto are currently 0-3 in Stage 3, and face the Gladiators and the Houston Outlaws in Week 4. Los Angeles should be able to handily defeat the Defiant, and focus on the daunting task of defeating the Vancouver Titans.
Prediction: Gladiators 4-0 Defiant
Player to Watch:
The player to watch versus the Defiant is Benjamin “BigGoose” Isohanni. BigGoose continues to be a force to be reckoned with for the Gladiators, and should continue to in the game against Toronto. BigGoose continues to lead his team forward, and be a shotcaller.
Vancouver Titans: 19-1 (5-1 in Stage 3)
The Vancouver Titans fell last week in the shock of the season, losing 3-1 to the Los Angeles Valiant. The Gladiators will be looking to emulate their neighbor team and take down the Titans. Vancouver will not give the Gladiators an easy game, as they will want to make up for their surprise loss last week. When the Gladiators played the Titans earlier this stage, they fell 3-1, only winning on Paris. Los Angeles will hope to have Paris as a map again, and want to capitalize on the shaken confidence of Vancouver. While the Titans are still expected to take this match, nothing should be ruled out. The Valiant, who were 0-7 in Stage 1, somehow took down the undefeated Vancouver Titans. Anything could happen folks.
Prediction: Titans 3-2 Gladiators
Player to Watch:
The player to watch against the Titans is Surefour. The Brigitte matchup will be one to watch this game, as well as the Sombra play. The Titans lost to a Sombra Goats composition, and Surefour is one of the best Sombra’s in the Overwatch League. No matter what the team plays, Surefour will be the deciding factor.
