Week 10 of the Fantasy Baseball Season is here, and it’s time to look at some sleepers that can produce this week.
Kyle Schwarber, OF, Chicago Cubs
Kyle Schwarber hasn’t produced a pretty looking line, his average being well below .250, but he can still be valuable in fantasy baseball this week. He leads off for the Cubs occasionally, giving him a good amount of at-bats. Also, he has double-digit home runs, and is on pace for about 30 this season. Schwarber can definitely be worthy of an outfield spot this week in a fantasy league. Chicago also has an extra game against the Angels on Monday. The lefty is owned in about 60 percent of leagues.
Hunter Renfroe, OF, San Diego Padres
Hunter Renfroe has a similar case to Schwarber. He has been performing better than Schwarber, though. He’s sitting at about a .250 average to go with 15 long balls. The former first-rounder is owned in about 55 percent of leagues. The five or six spot is usually where he hits in the lineup, which helps his value in that he is likely to hit with runners on base. Renfroe is facing the Phillies and Nationals at home this week.
Howie Kendrick, IF, Washington Nationals
Washington is getting back on track, and Howie Kendrick has been a big factor in doing so. Kendrick’s first 25 games in May produced a line of .338/.345/.588. Look for him to stay hot and continue producing throughout week 10. The MLB veteran is finally starting to get picked up in leagues, sitting at about a 25 own percentage.
C. J. Cron, 1B/DH, Minnesota Twins
C. J. Cron isn’t necessarily a sleeper, but it can be hard to keep up with all of the hitters producing for the Twins. Cron gets a lot of plate appearances as well since the Twins score so many runs. The power-hitting righty will be taking on the Indians and Tigers this week. He has very impressive numbers against Detroit, his line being .327/.353/.735. Half of his hits against the Tigers have gone for extra bases.
Kevin Newman, IF, Pittsburgh Pirates
Kevin Newman is a rookie for the Pirates this year and was taken in the first-round in 2015. He has been getting some starts from the lead-off spot, and is taking full advantage of it. He’s hitting near .350 so far this season. Newman also has Josh Bell hitting behind him, which provides him with a great chance to score whenever he gets on base. Newman is owned in less than one percent of leagues. The Pirates shortstop can make an impact to fill a hole on a lot of fantasy rosters in week 10.
Josh Reddick, OF, Houston Astros
Josh Reddick is getting a good amount of playing time as of late. He seems to have a starting role now as he even gets a lot of at-bats against lefties. The 32-year-old veteran is hitting over .300 with five home runs so far this year. The Astros have seven games on the schedule this week against the Mariners and Orioles. Against current Baltimore pitchers, he hits with a line of .325/.349/.475.
Brandon Lowe, 2B, Tampa Bay Rays
Brandon Lowe is the second rookie on the list, and he is producing for the over-achieving Rays so far this season. He is sitting at 11 home runs to go with 35 RBI. The Rays are facing the Tigers and Red Sox this week, and Lowe definitely has the ability to continue making fantasy owners pleased. He is owned in over 40 percent of leagues.
