Thanks to the Wild Rift patch 4.2 preview, the release of Wild Rift Swain is now confirmed. Swain is set to release first, followed by Volibear and Ornn during a later patch. This then begs the question, ‘what is the Wild Rift Swain release date?’
[Related: Wild Rift Ornn release date]
According to Wild Rift’s official Twitter page, Swain’s release date is May 26 at 00:01 UTC. Expect a small event promoting the champion as well, which allows players to eventually unlock Swain after completing the in game missions. This event will only be for a short period of time, which is a trend that occurs with all Wild Rift’s new champion releases.
Considering the last champion to release was Twitch, it’s honestly a little surprisng that Riot is going with another single champion release instead of a duo. Typically, they would have followed up by launching both Volibear alongside Ornn. As shown in the visul above, Ornn and Volibear debut on June 20, almost a month after Swain’s release.
This is around three weeks, so the two brothers are likely debuting on Wild Rift patch 4.2a. But Wild Rift Swain’s release showcases a slowing down in Wild Rift’s overall update schedule. The game, as a whole, has been updating slower and slower lately.
Time between patches has extended, and champion releases are more spaced out. But Wild Rift patch 4.2 has been promised to be a massive update to the game, and should be rather exciting to play.
