Masters 2 Copenhagen has finished the first round of the Playoffs Stage, eliminating two of the remaining eight teams. Leviatán played in their first series of Masters 2, having earned a bye to the playoffs for as first seed. Winning over XSET guaranteed Leviatán enough playoffs points to overtake KRÜ Esports for LATAM’s spot to Champions 2022 Istanbul. KRÜ will now have to play in the LCQ to make it to Champions 2022.

Leviatán’s Masters 2 run
Leviatán first earned their ticket to Copenhagen by defeating KRÜ Esports 3-0 in the LATAM Grand Finals to earn their spot at Masters 2. KRÜ would then defeat Ninjas in Pyjamas 3-0 in the LATAM/BR LCQ to secure the second seed, giving Leviatán a Playoffs Bye. In their first match, DRX would defeat them 1-2, sending Leviatán to the Lower Bracket, now fighting for their playoffs lives. LEV would win against NA’s XSET 2-1 to move on to the Lower Round 2, before being eliminated by FNATIC 2-1.
KRÜ Esports, Leviatán’s direct LATAM competition, would also make it to Masters 2, but exit early in the Groups Stage. Although they would upset Brazilian powerhouse LOUD 2-1, KRÜ would then drop to Guild Esports 2-1, before being eliminated by defending champions OpTic Gaming 0-2.
Last Chance Qualifier Implications
During Masters 2, LEV earned 300 Circuit Points compared to KRÜ’s 200 Circuit Points. This sets the total VCT Circuit Points at 355 to 325, with LEV taking first place. They will secure the single LATAM Circuit Points slot at Champions 2022 Istanbul. For KRÜ, they will have to compete in the South America Last Chance Qualifier.
The South America LCQ will start on August 6, with the top two earning spots at Champions 2022 Istanbul. From LATAM, the teams competing will be KRÜ Esports, FUSION, E-Xolos LAZER and 9z Team. For Brazil, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Keyd Stars, FURIA Esports and TBK Esports will compete in the LCQ.
