Tennis legend Roger Federer has announced his retirement from professional play. The 41-year-old Swiss native is retiring with the third-most earnings via prize money in the history of the sport, with $130,554,339.
Federer himself released a retirement announcement via his Twitter account on Thursday.
In Grand Slam singles, Federer has 20 wins. He won Wimbledon eight times, the Australian Open six times, the U.S. Open five times and the French Open once. He also has 103 career titles, total, which is second all-time in the Open Era.
Federer’s career record stands at 1251-275, good for a winning percentage of 82 percent. In the Olympics, Federer owns a silver medal in singles play (2012), and a gold medal in doubles (2008). The Laver Cup was his final tournament.
